Sainlogic WS3500 - How replace Thermo-hygro sensor
« on: August 01, 2021, 06:17:42 AM »
Hello everyone, thanks to those who can help me.
I have a Sainlogic WS3500 station where the humidity sensor always shows the same value, ie 10%. I tried both with various resets, cleaning the components and with the replacement of the batteries, nothing solved the problem. I would like to replace the part but I can't understand what I should buy?
Here is the detail of the model:
https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07TVMQ2CK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks to those who can give me advice.

Since you have a Fine Offset clone you could either replace the whole sensor array with another one or see if you can get a replacement temperature/humidity sensor part. If you replace the entire sensor array you will need to make sure that the frequency matches your console. I believe that Sainlogic uses 433 MHz...I'm not positive though.

Ambient Weather ships worldwide so something to consider is this part. Since this part does not include the transmitter it won't present a frequency issue. You can also contact Ecowitt for either the entire array replacement or just this part.
https://ambientweather.com/amws2902thermohyfroassembly.html

Something else you can consider is getting an Ecowitt GW1001. You might have use for a GW1000. Or just take the opportunity to get a totally new station with a new display that is better like the HP2551. That way you can run separate components in the future.

If you are referring to the external humidity, you can order the entire external sensor from ecowitt directly ( as shown in this post )
I have ordered one, and was surprised when notified that they sent me as a gift ( maybe they consider me a 'good old customer' even if I have ordered only a few sensor from them )

Davidefa,
[tup] Good to know that Ecowitt also sells that part. I think that is probably the best option.

Checking in the lower part of the station it says that the frequency is 868Mhz, can this be a problem if I buy the piece you suggested?

Thank you

It won't be a problem if you purchase a 868 MHz GW1100/GW1000 (or GW1001 = GW1100/GW1000 + outdoor sensor array).  8-)
If you buy the whole array as replacement, it also has to be the 868 MHz version - in Europe anyway.
When you order in the Ecowitt shop, you can select the frequency.
A replacement array you will have to order via email - then you have to mention that you need a 868 MHz version.

Ecowitt sell a thermo/hydro/rain replacement module for the WH65 outdoor array for 15 USD (shipping via China post included).
Needs to be ordered by email - not shown in the shop.
Buying from Ambient will result in much higher shipping costs to Europe. Under 150 EUR import to EU = no tax.
VAT (Italian IVA) needs to be paid. 15 + 20% = 18 USD = 15-16 EUR. That's survivable.

To get the GW1100 +WH65 outdoor array is 180 USD from Ecowitt - BUT you get functionally the same ordering a Steinberg System sbs-ws-600
with a WH2650 (=functional GW1000 - see https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40970.0) at https://www.expondo.it/steinberg-systems-stazione-meteo-professionale-centralina-wifi-sensore-interno-esterno-10030583
for 105 EUR shipping included (and a 3-year warranty !!).

First of all, thanks for the professionalism and availability.  By purchasing the SBS-WS-600 later, could I continue to use the display console of my old WS3500 as well?  I really like the display, is it compatible?

If you want to buy 'all anew' take a look on the italian amazon for Waldbeck Halley
And yes, you'll see the 'same values' on the console and on the gateway ( only the internal temperature/humidity and pressure will come from 2 different sources: the internal sensors on the console, the wh26/32b sensor on the wh2650, the little white box with display )

The Waldbeck Halley is another brand under which the WH2650 console is sold - it corresponds to a sbs-ws-600 and NOT 300.
(the sbs-ws-300 corresponds to the WH2910/WS3500 or Waldbeck Huygens, a not expandable console, which you already have; that means it cannot display other, extra sensors like lightning. soil moisture, CO2 etc. - the WH2650 can receive ALL extra sensors available today from Ecowitt)
see also https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0
The WS3500 (WH2910) console will show the internal temperature, humidity and pressure from its in-built sensors, and the WH2650 console (Waldbeck Halley, sbs-ws-600 ...) will use the measurements of the WH32B indoor sensor which comes with the station as @davidea mentioned.
