SSL Certification.....
« on: May 30, 2021, 11:36:19 AM »
So having a domain and website for many years with Godaddy I'm wanting to move over to SSL, with more recommendations to having a more secure site nows the time to implement that before I end up having to in the future.

Any suggestions on what's available out there, cheaper then the starting price of $85 per year from Godaddy.  I have seen one company offering SSL Cert for $4.00 per year, is that a laugh or is that for real and Godaddy are just trying to exploit their customers.  Maybe the cheap offering only applies the "s" to "http" and that there's no security at the back end.

Any thoughts would be very welcome !!!!  Please.

Thanks.  Nick.  dw7240.com.

There are a couple of options discussed in this thread.  https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=38766.0

I'm using a piece of software called Certify the Web.  GoDaddy has an API you can hook into.  CTW will give a PFX that you need to convert to 2 CRT files.  Then you upload the files into GoDaddy.  These are Let's Encrypt certs.

So I'm doing it for free.  You need to do it every 3 months.  But it's free.

I did a video awhile ago with a different process that doesn't work any longer.  But I do cover the part of uploading the videos into GoDaddy.  That's still current.
