I wasn't sure where to put this, but since they don't really predict the weather, I chose "Folklore".

Folklore is right.

I didn't make, but bought, one off the eBay site, and it has kept exactly the same as it was the day I bought it.  I guess I just haven't had time to toss it out yet.  Now I know what's in it, I'll be less concerned about some sort of damage by tossing the thing.  Unlike the Galileo thermometer which is pretty and actually changes, and with some science behind it, this thing doesn't even attract attention.

Hmmm.... mine doesn't change with the weather, but the crystals do change slowly over time.

I have two of the storm glasses, one of which was made by a gentleman who used to post here. NiceBill passed away around 2008 or so, but the year before he did, he got into making them.

Mine change quite often, especially in the wintertime, and they change together, but it doesn't seem to mean anything. It doesn't forecast anything.

Still an interesting weather gadget.

When I saw your earlier post showing the storm glass I knew it was one of NiceBill's. He lived 20 miles from me (Central Illinois) and we talked occasionally. He was quite a character and a regular poster here. Glad to see one of his "glasses" still out there in use.

NiceBill seemed to live up to his name. I never met him in real life, but I often talked to him back then and he was always ready to help out. I pretty much stopped using the forums after his passing.
