Hi Scott,

Apparently, lines 2403-2410 in the Ajax-Dashboard6 file (I'm pretty sure) were commented out and Steve worked with it and removed the // from those lines and got it working. Something simple for most people but something I may not ever have found on my own.
Tom, Were they the same lines I mentioned in my post on 2/2?

Hi Tom,

Those lines are always commented out in the script. The reason is not everybody needs those two functions in this script. You should have gotten an error message when you first tried to run the script that indicated a problem with langtrans. In the script, just above where the lines were uncommented for you, is an explanation of what to do if you get that error.

Not picking on ya - just explaining.  :grin:

Thats very strange, it has always given the error Fatal error: Call to undefined function langtransstr().  I think thats why it was so difficult for anyone to figure it out.

This is off subject, how do you get the current conditions etc. that I see many display by their signature.

If you're asking about the banners, most folks use WXGraphic. See http://scripts.anolecomputer.com/wxgraphic/.

I certainly think that was it mayo9999; a friend of mine found the error!

Exactly jgillett; that is why Tony did not think that was initially the problem. It was just the way I had the js files set up. I certainly wasn't insinuating that not finding this was anything other than my own ability to find problems and correct them. This was all on me!! LOL!! One thing right now is some of my meds for my Renal Failure makes it very difficult to concentrate and follow through on troubleshooting and that is what is so frustrating for me! :grin:

Scott I'll be honest, I never saw any errors but that is my because I have very little knowledge about troubleshooting. It is kind of like a little league baseball player (ME) trying to play with the major leaguers!! LOL!! :oops:

Tom,

Not to worry. Everybody here makes mistakes, everybody here misses things, and everybody here, at one time or another, was new to this.

As for meds, I kinda know where you're at - two injections in one eye every 6 weeks, enough blood draws to make me wonder if my body will ever catch up, plus a mess of other stuff I won't go into, and most of the time I don't know where I'm at either.   :?

Thanks John; Yeah I had bleeding in my eyes as complication of diabetes and went through a series of shots in Both eyes but like you said they did numb them before the shots....but just the thought. I start testing for a Kidney Transplant in a couple of weeks and continue the procedure; can't have anything as simple as a cavity or hang nail or it is no go. Hoping for a chance sometime in 2011.

Tom, we have another commonality - fire. I was a volunteer firefighter back east for 8 years, 6 of that as an engineer. Out here I was a volunteer for Phoenix Fire for over 19 years with Fire Prevention. They lost track of my time - last estimate I heard was over 20,000 hours.

Cool John; I have been a Volunteer FF/EMT for almost 30 years and still help as I can as EMT/Safety Officer and Rehab. It is tough now to be a Volunteer FF because NC wants one to have at least 36 hrs+ training hrs per year but 100 hrs+ per year training is more like it. It gets harder and harder to get Volunteers here as a result of all the training hrs. required. I was a Paramedic for almost 10 years in the '90's, a Volunteer FF/EMT and member of the Rescue Squad putting in 1500+ hrs of volunteer work a year plus my job as a Paramedic and raising 3 kids; just got burned out and quit everything for a couple of years. I hate I didn't keep up my Certifications because I had to basically start from ground zero. Moved to the Coast of NC about 4 yrs ago from the Charlotte Area and absolutely love the Beach. Where back East are you from??

Sorry guys for being off topic here; just getting know my peers who have helped me so much with my website over the years and those who are helping me take a step forward with the new ajax system. Please excuse the off topic posts.

I'm trying to find out why my ajaxcond2 icon on my 6.07 dashoard is showing a gif image instead of a jpg image. All of my other icons are either jpg or png which is what I'm wanting. Below is my ajaxWDwx.js settings. Where am I missing the ajaxcond2 setting.? Is there another setting somewhere for "ajaxcond2"?

//------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// DASHBOARD ICONS: optional settings for current conditions graphic for dashboard
// tag: "ajaxconditionicon" or "ajaxconditionicon2" ... specify it below in wxIcon.useTag
// e.g. graphic name: "./ajax-images/bkn.gif"
// .... grab the animated icons for set 2 here: http://www.bashewa.com/downloads/bws-icons-current.zip
var wxIcon =
   {src    : imgDir+"{PIC}.jpg" // where {PIC} will = picname from function specified in wxIcon.useName below
   ,width  : 74 ,height: 74 ,hspace: 0 ,vspace: 0 ,border: 0
   ,style  : ""  // eg. "border: 2px solid silver"
   ,align  : ""  // [ left | right | top | bottom | middle | texttop | absbottom | absmiddle ]
   ,useTag : "ajaxconditionicon2" // [ ajaxconditionicon | ajaxconditionicon2 ] ... ajax tagname to use
   ,useName: 1   // [ 0| 1 | 2 | 9 ] function for getting icon names ...
   };            //                  0 = Anole's icon names ............ see ajax_getIconName0()
                 //                  1 = NWS icon names ................ see ajax_getIconName1()
                 //                  9 = Dynamic current icons ......... NOT IMPLEMENTED

//------------------------------------------------------------------------------
// WIND ROSE: optional settings for the Wind Rose graphic
// tag: "ajaxwindiconwr"
// e.g. graphic name: "./ajax-images/wr-SSE.gif"  or  "./ajax-images/wr-nl-SSE.gif"
// .... grab the wind rose icons here: http://www.bashewa.com/downloads/bws-icons-wind.zip
var wrImg =

Hi Tom,

Got your PM through my email.  Anyway try looking in this section of your ajax-dashboard6.php script.  This is my current settings that might help you.

$ourTZ = "Pacific/Honolulu";  //NOTE: this *MUST* be set correctly to
// translate UTC times to your LOCAL time for the displays.
//
// optional settings for the Wind Rose graphic in ajaxwindiconwr as wrName . winddir . wrType
$wrName        = 'wr-';              // first part of the graphic filename (followed by winddir to complete it)
$wrType        = '.jpg';             // extension of the graphic filename
$wrCalm        = 'wr-calm.jpg';      // set to full name of graphic for calm display ('wr-calm.gif')
$haveUV        = true;               // set to false if no UV sensor
$haveSolar     = true;               // set to false if no Solar sensor
$WXtags        = 'testtags.php';     // source of our weather variables
$fcstorg       = 'NWS';              // default forecast organization ('NWS','EC','WU','WXSIM')
$fcstscript    = 'advforecast2.php'; // default forecast script

$UVscript      = 'get-UV-forecast-inc.php'; // worldwide forecast script for UV Index
//                                          comment out above line to exclude UV forecast
$DavisVP       = true;                 // set to false if weather station is not a Davis VP
$showSnow      = true;           // set to false if Snow values not recorded manually in WD

Hope that this might work for you.

Thanks Stan, yeah that is what I have also. I have been doing so much testing that it is very possible that one of the files I have on my server is incorrect but all the files that I have been tweaking but haven't reloaded are all correct. :grin:

Tom,

It would help greatly if you included a link to the page so we can see what is happening.  Basically if the image is wrong when the page first loads then corrects itself when the page updates with the java, the problem is on the PHP script.  If it's right immediately on loading then disappears, it's in the java.  If it never shows, check for a path error or the image is wrong in both spots.

Hi Scott,

My link is still at www.carolinastormwatch.com/indextest.php . The images I am trying to correct are the Ajaxcondtion2 Icons above the windrose which are showing a "gif" image but I would like to have a php icon most people are showing. The path is showing ..../ajax-images/???.gif and I cannot find the setting to change them to "jpg". The other icons (ajaxcondtion) are correct on the page. I uploaded the "gif" icons from Meerkat's iconset and put them in the ajax-images directory. Sometimes they appear and sometimes I get the text for the icon and not the icon. I do get an image or the text to load and the path appears correct for the icon that should be showing. For instance right now there is no icon but there is text "Overcast-light rain". Strange but I am sure there is an incorrect setting somewhere.

Thanks Scott!

Tom,

At the bottom of the script in the functions section you will find a list of icons all with a .gif ending, change them to .jpg.  You will find the same in the java script.  That will fix your problem!

Scott, the station highs or lows from my data, when do they get written at midnight?

I've incorporated both into my version of the dashboard.
I had a station record low this morning from my data.

Or will I need to figure out some function that replaces the $mintemp4today with $mintemp if it's lower

thanks

Yes I think the High/Low values are written sometime about 1-8 minutes after midnight as part of the end of day processing WD does.  Brian could probably give you the exact time for it.  I see you and I had basically the same idea about showing both WeatherUnderground and Station Highs/Lows.  I have something like that as an option in the next version too.

Not exactly sure what you mean about the $mintemp4today though, the values will just automa with the first refresh after midnight.

I guess what I meant was comparing the Low Temp today with the Rec. Low from my station data
and replacing the Rec. Low for the station with the new record like what happened today,

Todays low was -4.5 which didnt break the Weather Underground Record but broke my station
record of 11 degrees.

Did i explain that correctly? Sorry if I

In the code, find the section that shows this:
Code: [Select]
<?php

if (strip_units($maxtemp) > strip_units($WUmaxtempr)){
                               echo
"<img src=\"${imagesDir}NewRec_HIGH.jpg\" alt=\"Record High\"/>"; }

?>

                         <?php

if (strip_units($mintemp) < strip_units($WUmintempr)){
                               echo
"<img src=\"${imagesDir}NewRec_LOW.jpg\" alt=\"Record Low\"/>";  }

?>

You can just add an "or" function and then add another check to see if maxtemp is > $maxtemp4today and similar for the low.  That way it will trigger on either.  If you want to be fancy, you could add a new graphic for each and put in two sections, one for WU records and one for station records.
