I have mine on our rear deck with an extension cord to a power plug on the back of the house.  Working fine through two winters so far.

I have a weather resistant outlet enclosure that I installed near the mounting location of my sensor under the eave.

my setup looking up from the bottom of a porch light. I leave the power on all the time so the other two lights have a dusk to dawn sensor on them so they turn on and off by themselves.

Depends how far outside you want to install it?!

I bought the 7.5m USB extension for it (6628) and that solved my problem.
