Is Meteobridge Still Working?
« on: September 02, 2022, 10:12:01 PM »
First post from a new member...still a noob with weather stations and all the setup, but I'm trying. I've had a Vantage Vue and an Ambient MB up and running for three weeks and managed to get data pushing to WL (the PC program and the webpage), AW, WU, PWS and CWOP through an ASUS router. Not knowing that MB isn't supposed to work on a mesh system, I got a TP-Link Deco mesh router about a week ago and was able to get everything working again. Initially, I had the console and MB connected to the main router, but it worked even after I moved everything to the node unit. During that process, I looked at the MB UI and noticed a persistent error message on the interface that said:

"Error: Open file for write failed (/home/boris/meteobridge/htdocs/cd/config-aDGbDt/www/meteobridge.conf): No such file or directory."

Since it was still pushing data to all the connected services, I just ignored it. After a network reboot this morning, WL isn't updating anymore, so I wound up looking at the same error message on the MB UI and started wondering: 1) Is MB really not working?; 2) If it isn't, how am I still pushing data to all these services?; and, 3) How can I get data pushing back to WL? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice.

Just to clarify? Need an expansion on the config

- Does the Vue have a logger? WLIP?
- Is the MB connected/cabled to the Vue?
- Is there a computer (with WeatherLinkPC) involved in this system?

An MB can not push data to WL as in WeatherLink.com if I am reading this correct?

Mattk,

The Vue has a WL USB datalogger cabled to MB. Have a Windows 11 PC with WL 6.05; however, the system is not currently reporting to it or the WL website.

Not a user of USB logger/MB combination but to upload to WeatherLink.com would be reliant on the Windows PC with WL running.

WeatherLinkIP (logger) required MB to allocate a time slot in order to upload to WeatherLink.com and talk to WeatherLinkPC but as mentioned unsure if the MB is taking full control of the comms in this case. There should be plenty of users on here who have the same config as yours who have direct knowledge of the USB/MB combo

MB not supposed to work on Mesh????

I recently put in Tenda Nodes. I gave the new system the same SSID and PWD as the old router. Everything pretty much connected on its own.

Maybe this has an idea:

davidmc36,

My question as well. Data is pushing to all connected services except WL on a mesh system, but the setup page on Meteobridge Wiki page says:

"Please notice that Meteobridges Do not support some proprietary 2.4GHz WLAN high-speed modes (just the regular 802.11 b/g/n are supported) and it also cannot connect to MESH networks, which some routers a providing."

Follow up per the link in your post:

Checked communication and power connections, all OK. Tried connecting WLUSB logger directly to PC and changed communication option to USB, but "Device not found". Then tried connecting logger to PC through the Belkin Hub sent with the MB, but "Error communicating through USB".

In your config, data to WL (WeatherLink.com) relies on the Console/Logger&PC with WeatherLinkPC, the MB plays not part (as such) in this upload at all and not reliant on anything Wifi up until the Windows PC at which point the connection between the PC and router is optional.
