WS-2902 Humidity Issue
« on: January 14, 2019, 10:11:54 AM »
Hello,

My WS-2902 is having a problem with the outdoor humidity reading. It has been 99% since Jan 12th at 1500. I tried the reset procedure advised on the website and it has not made a difference (cover solar, remove batteries, reset for 1 minute, new batteries, uncover solar, reset panel inside). Is there anything else I can try?

I live in South Africa, so I would like to avoid returning the unit for exchange under warranty. I’ve inlcuded a snapshot of the last weeks humidity readings for inside and outside.

Thanks

Colin Castelli

When you say reset procedure, is there a link to that procedure that you followed?

For example, did you unplug the Display Console from the DC power supply, remove the batteries, wait for at least 5 seconds before reinserting the batteries, and doing a complete factory reset, re-syncing the display console and the outdoor array?

Thanks for the reply, here is the procedure I followed:

https://ambientweather.net/help/humidity-reads-99-all-of-the-time-osprey-series/

These are also the instructions I was sent by Ambient Weather Support. With the blessing of Ambient Weather, I tried re-seated the connectors for the rain-TH Assembly and there is no change.

Probably of little help, but your scenario included the nearly 48 hours of 0% before jumping to 99%. Did (Ambient) Ed know about that detail when you emailed him?

Yes, he did. The message here was a direct cut and paste from the email to him.

Seems like a bad sensor to me. If you are comfortable with a soldering iron I would say you could try and replace the temperature/humidity chip with a SHT30 as this is what has been reported to be inside. You could also try your luck and upgrade to an SHT31 or SHT35 since you are at it.

When my warranty is up I'll be attempting the SHT30 to SHT31, or 35 or 85 upgrade
