6334 vs. 6327
« on: April 27, 2018, 10:04:01 AM »
Davis has a comparison chart for complete systems, but not for ISS (that I've found).  Differences between 6334 and 6327?

6334 has daytime fan but does not have UV sensor
6327 has UV sensor but does not have daytime fan

Any other differences other than price? What is difference between non-Plus and Plus series?

You've summarised the only differences between 6327 and 6334.

Solar is often more useful than UV and the DFARS may be handy too. IIRC 6334 effectively gives you a free DFARS relative to buying 6322 + 6450 + 6673 separately.

Plus = Non-plus + separate solar and UV sensors

Thanks.  I suppose if I go the fan route, I'll just need to be prepared to replace the fan after a few years?  If I choose not to replace the fan, will the unit report temps as accurately as if it never had a fan (as accurately as the passive models) or will the presence of the non-functional fan assembly cause temps to distort?

DFARS should be close to standard passive. 24-hour FARS will have significantly more lag - the shield has much less natural ventilation.

Now I'm seeing that 6820 might be about what I need.  Seems to be similar to 6334 (which only Davis seems to sell).  Fundamentally, the groWeather configurations should be similarly compatible with Meteobridge as are the normal ISS setups?

If I can't find sellers of 6820 or 6334, I'll have to settle for the higher priced 6327.

There's nothing special about 6820 or 6334 in supply terms - they're all available to dealers from Davis. But the problem for dealers is that there are now so many variations available on the VP2 ISS theme that it's difficult to know what to stock - especially for ISS units rather than complete stations. You obviously don't want a lot of cash tied up in ISS variants that customers aren't requesting and that will just sit on the shelf. 6820 and 6334 units are sold much more into the agriculture sector paired with eg Connect or EM and so a dealer specialising in agriculture rather than hobbyist market is more likely to have them.
