I'm appalled at the diminishing civility and basic human courtesy that seems to be happening.
Beside the basic "I-Me-Me-Mine" nature of society that we've bred over the decades, I think a lot of it can be attributed to the faceless interaction the Internet provides in every corner of Life now.
I remember back in the pre-3W days of the Internet, one could always find a "War Room" type area in a BBS message base but it was always limited to that particular area and it wasn't really filled with childish type mud-slinging. It was more a "sophisticated insult" area and you always had an avenue of reply.
But to attack someone as an individual when that person provides a service is ridiculous. If you don't like the menu, you don't eat there. If you don't like the service, you don't patronize the joint. If you think your observations may help, you offer them in a civil manner. You don't come back and throw eggs at the windows, key the cook's car and then hide in the shadows.
Joe - somewhere in my mind, I see some goofy kid in mommy's basement bragging to his friends about how he's so smart because he "told you off and there's nothing you can do because there's no
reply to address". Probably thought you shared the same mentality and would spam-flood his mailbox to "teach him a lesson".
It's amazing how unaccountable and rude we've let our society become.
