Check the rate of rise of the Cumberland River at Clarksville, TN

Came up 20' between noon 5/01/10 and noon 5/02/10

Red River at Port Royal, TN is even worse.  It's about 40' above normal levels and 18' above flood stage:

Even at that, it's no where near a record for Nashville.  The chart below shows similar levels in 1948 (#15), but Nashville is a much, much different place now than it was 60 years ago.  The 14 other higher levels date back into the early 1800's.

Wow those are impressive jumps.  I suppose that's to be expected with a foot of rain though.
