Well for years I have been saying we're in a lull... I think that's done now.
For the first time since the May 2003 outbreak that lasted like a week, we have been under a tornado watch here in north Mississippi for more than 14 hours now. The watch was issued around 11pm on Friday night (April 30th) and has continually been extended, currently running through 4pm today (May 1st.) It is likely that watch will be extended into the early morning hours as the National Weather Service is forecasting chances for tornadoes and severe weather to actually increase into the late night and overnight hours across our region, and have put virtually the entire Mid-South in a high risk for severe weather.
