Weird character display on weather page
« on: March 02, 2025, 10:16:01 AM »
I have these weird Characters showing up when I view my or other persons weather web pages. It does not show up when I go to other sites. Any ideas? And the weird characters sometimes go away for a while. This happens in my Microsoft and Chrome browsers. But interestingly enough not in my Samsung browser on my android.

I'm sorry I should have been more clear. I am seeing the weird characters not others. If I view my site or even this forum I occasionally see these characters (mainly a capital A with a tilde over it) but if I look at my site, or this one, from another computer or my phone, there is no problem. I should point out if I go to other sites like cnn, or netflic, or AccuWeather I dont see the weird characters. Its only when I view the personal weather websites and this forum. Sorry for not being more clear.

It looks like your browser is rendering it any time it encounters an HTML " " (non-breaking space). I've never seen that happen before. Maybe something in the browser configuration for the charset that's being used?

Edit: What should be rendered is a space. It's not an uncommon character to include so it would make sense if you are seeing it on other sites also.

My suggestion is to make sure that the computer AND the browser you are using are both set for your preferred language.  And even "English" has different versions.

I was  just looking at my Firefox browser settings and saw at least 2 English versions available.
