I have an aging Win10 based computer which has served well for nearly 7 years.
I have a program called Adobe Lightroom which has a purchased version which was a single purchase, not a subscription form. Now the ONLY form that has true Lightroom functionality is the subscription form.
Some years ago when imaging and upgrading the size of hard drives was popular, I recall a program, but of course not the name, which would allow you to move a program entirely from one computer onto the disk or another computer. It was not intended to buy one copy and image it onto many others. The process was a bit involved, but automated, with it finding links and .dlls and all and moving them too. I used it once or twice on some weather related software and it worked well.
I am very opposed to any subscription type program, and would continue to use the version of Lightroom but am running out of space and room to hold files on the old, and at seven years, admittedly slower machine. I have the original disks for Lightroom that I purchased, but the idea of installing it and being happy came to a hold when I recall that there were multiple updates with filters, lens corrections and other stuff that Adobe provided for upgrading on their web site, but no longer have available to apply to a newly installed copy onto the new machine.
I have tried many other free and for less than a hundred bucks versions of other programs that are touted to be equal or better.
Yet, they all leave some major problems with work flow. I don't do a lot, sometimes one image, but Lightroom did, at least I've not used the subscription version obviously, have it so I could open an image, crop it, play with all sorts of adjustments seeing the results on screen, edit blemishes, do filters and vignettes, adjust the sky hues and such all in the same frame. None of the other programs seem to do it all from the same place, having to jump from screen to screen and for some, puzzling so, don't even have all the basic controls on the same adjustment page but scattered in various places.
So I'm back to trying to move the Lightroom non-subscription to my new machine.
Is anyone aware of a utility or package (Acronis, etc.) which would allow me to move a program and all the dependencies, to the new computer? Dale
