Oh that and more.  I just turned 68 last month.  In a simple act of pruning a bush,  I tore a muscle on my side.  I am better, my arms ache, i have this and that hurting. I figure it is my body's way of getting back all those years of having a lot of fun and doing stuff.

Now I sit here an wait for a sub teaching job,  and secretly don't want it. Just send me the money, you keep the kids.

Even my weather station is boring.  I have to find a new vice

I thought it was kinda....appropriate for some of us. ;)

Something I normally share is "Used to when we might fall down we would quickly look around to be sure nobody saw us...now, we look around to see if somebody will help us get up."

And in relationship to that...  "We don't bounce like we use to."

cospringswx...SLO gave you "your sign"!

Aardvark, I understand what you're saying about those aches and pains...some of them you can remember "oh, that's when I (fill in the blank)"...other pains are "where'd this come from?".  As for the boredom...take up rock collecting/tumbling.  Seriously, as a kid I was forever picking up the odd rock.  Then years ago I bought my daughters a rock tumbler for Christmas...that flew "like a rock".  Well, after sitting in a closet for 25 years I drug it out the other day thinking I'd get the *grand*daughters interested.  I got to reading up on rock tumbling and hunting and I think I'm hooked...and I haven't found a nice batch of rocks nor tumbled any yet.  But, I'm already planning some short road trips to procure some desirable rocks being as my area isn't exactly a rockhound's dream (dried up swamps, red clay, etc.,.)   It's good for the ADD to fine something new to do.

Rock tumbling isn't bad.  After 37 years my wife has convinced me to do rug hooking.  I have completed 11 of them and she says my style is primative.  amen to that.  What is worse  I am now getting into dyeing wool.  I have 48 different dyes in the basement and started that last night.    http://www.desmoinesweather.org/Joesrugs/photo.htm

Swamp-if you ever come to Iowa, I can set you up with tons of rocks. Bring the dump truck.

As a kid, the first few weeks of summer was spent picking up rocks out of the fields we farmed.  We would ride in the bucket on the front of the tractor.  When we would see a rock, we would wave our hands, dad would stop, and we would pick it up.  The hope was the rocks would not end up in the combine or ruin the disk or plow.

Free for the taking.
