ESET Smart Security
« on: September 05, 2015, 04:16:04 PM »
In a nutshell, from this weather nut.  I am using Bitdefender 2015 internet security suite. I do everything with this computer, from run my Weatherdisplay software, my Blue Iris security , my banking, checking up on the granddaughter's school stuff, social media, Office 365..

I am noticing my computer is slowing down  and it shouldn't  Today I noticed that Bitdefender was using nearly 4 G of the 8 I  have. That is huge.  So I read up a bit and yes, it has become a memory hog over time.  So I am looking for another security suite.

For a while I had considered ESET but just wondered if anyone has used it before .  I am getting to that time of the subscription to start thinking about replacing it.

I don't want go trouble shoot as I just don't want to go that route.

Hi Aardvark,

I am using the free version of Avast Antivirus and the free version of Malwarebytes. Have been using both for several years now and haven't had an issue with either program. Pretty light on resources, too. I run scans weekly.

I have Win 7.  I do not plan on updating to 10 on this machine.

I'm running the free version of Avast AV and paid Malwarebytes no issues. I don't like firewalls by software. Just use Windows.

That is the best solution  and absolutely sufficient,  any extra Antivirus or even worse a whole package of programs is for the computer like a hand break to a car

I've used Eset for years. Tried Bitdefender and went back to Eset.
