It sure is a different world out there today.
Back in 1968, when the gun control act was passed, I took a 44-40 saddle carbine I owned into the Federal Building in Detroit to ask the ATF guys if I needed to register it under the new Act. Nobody thought this was out of the ordinary and the ATF took a look at the gun and said I probably didn't need to register it, but could if I wanted to.
A friend of mine in Georgia told me he and his buddies used to bring their shotguns on the school bus during hunting season so the driver could drop them off after school to hunt ducks. Nobody thought this was out of the ordinary. He and I were both raised around guns and were taught by our parents to respect them and to use them safely.
I shudder to think what would happen if either of us did these things today.
It sure is a different world out there today.
That's the absolute truth!!! So different than days passed!
I think that media attention to these sort of things seems to make copy cat
incidents pop up after the initial incident.. they get to thinking things like " Wow that kid made the world news with his gun !! Maybe I can try that and get on TV"
Just my $.02 worth but it seems fairly valid from the way I see things like that.
Back in the days you were talking about parents taught children things and they remembered them..mainly because a serious punishment event would follow if not!
Now days even a parent in governed back as to what you can do for punishment. Not that I'm all for beating the crap out of your kid if he starts a fight or something but I got many "whippings"
and did eventually learn right from wrong if for no other reason that being able to sit..comfortably

And it didn't kill me(although sometimes I thought it would )
Again Just my $02 worth

I'm me and I approved that message
