So above ground safe rooms made of reinforced concrete blocks, or other materials, and underground storm shelters have become more and more popular in Oklahoma.

I think if the number of tornadoes keep increasing, someone will have a potentially good business for shelters, if the price is right and it's a quality product.

Regarding safe rooms, here is a must watch video from the Rachel Maddow Show that aired last nught.

Who cares who the messenger is as long as it's getting out.  I wouldn't berate it if O'Reilly or Hannity aired something similar.

After the way journalists and talking heads on TV have shown their ignorance of weather in the last two weeks, I don't think I'd want them giving information out to people even if it is good. That goes for Blitzer, O'Reilly, Maddow, or even Kronkite.

Why is she so terrible?  Because she isn't a conservative?

I haven't been paying much attention to them, but did find one of them,  Fareed Zakaria of CNN, ignorantly referring to Norman, OK as arid.

Because all she wants to do is lay blame.

Here are two pictures of the severe thunderstorm associated with a an EF5 tornado that hit the Oklahoma City area on May 31, 2013.  The first one show an aerial view of the storm.  The second one shows the storm's mammatus  clouds as viewed from the ground near Stillwater.  The storm dumped 4 to 8 inches across much of the area with hail.  From such an unusually rainy spring, Oklahoma City  has already had close to 31" of rain for the year, or most of the average amount it gets for an entire year.

Hi Richard,

The aerial photo was taken by an NWS employee out of the Albuquerque, NM office who happened to be a plane trip. I believe the photo was taken at around 40k ft.

I saw 62K feet echo tops on GRLevel3 during that storm. This must have not been that same cell, since the anvil top looks to be about at flight level.

As I recall, Mike Morgan, the infamous TV weatherman who told people to flee south in their cars, said the storms were 50k ft. high.
