You know you've gone off the deep end...

when you get free business cards for your hobby web site.

Worse yet is when you pay extra to get the higher quality card stock and glossy coating.

They have my full name and phone number, but I blanked that out for web use. From Vistaprint.com

There you go! Start spreading those around and watch your website traffic start climbing even higher. Good idea. I think it was member SLOweather who even had ink pens stamped with his website printed on them.  :-)

Yes, I print mine, also we have "get togethers" of ex-pats like the TX Club or village residents like the Riberas residents and I've always despised stickon name tags so I printed one that goes in a plastic carrier with a lanyard left over from trade shows, it just says "Steve the WeatherGuy"  and on the flip side the biz card. Actually many retired folks here have cards with their Emails, Vonage NOB lines etc.

I didn't opt for anything on the back, Paul, and I used standard shipping. It was still pretty quick. Not too many choices of standard images, but no one here lives too close to me, so no worries there. I did opt for the premium glossy card stock, which I thought would be more "professional" looking. These will last a while, as I'm not going to plaster them all over cars in parking lots.

Funny thing is, is that I have a couple of boxes of blank embossed business cards containing 5000 each. As a kid, I mowed lawns for spare cash, and my grandfather had two printing presses. So we'd make business cards for our lawn mowing service, and also for cards and flyers for other people. Now 50 years later, I have the presses, drawers of type, and boxes of business cards in my garage. But I'm sure the cards are yellowed, the rollers on the presses need replaced. That's a project for another day...

I got these from Vista Print also for my Time lapse site http://www.agtimelapse.com/ people are alawas asking what I am doing so I give them a card now instead of telling them a website address that they will forget. Of course I also have my weather website listed.

When I moved to Chicago in '77 as a young salesman and when I'd go to parties people always as what you do? - of course when you say "I'm a salesman" they'll move heaven and earth to get away from you before they even know what you sold. So, I write poetry on occasion and had cards made up with my schtick and my name and "Head Rhymer". I'd hand it over and they'd say "wow, how interesting". After talking for a while they'd eventually ask the obvious "do you actually make a living at that?" - and I'd tell them no, sales, but by then you had blunted the bullet and they wouldn't panic and run. It worked so well I kept it even after moving to TX.
