Night's closing in - United Kingdom
« on: September 01, 2012, 03:52:34 PM »
Hi guys,

Anybody in the UK or in the Northern Hemisphere experiencing the "nights closing in" feeling? I certainly did when I looked at my webcam to find it dark at 8:30 pm! It was going dark at 10:00 pm in June! Roll on next Summer!

One of the weirdest things that I've ever felt was on your side of the pond.  I was in London for Thanksgiving weekend (US holiday at the end of November), and the street lights were already coming on at 3:30 PM.  It was the first time that London's 51 degree north latitude clicked in my head, coming from New York at 41 degrees north where I believe the sun was still setting at 5:00 PM at the time.  It didn't hit me until after I got home and was looking at my pictures that the grass was still green over there at the end of November, thanks to the warm ocean water.....
WU Gold Stars for everyone!

Hi vriehen,

God that is weird, certainly here it's closer to the Arctic so night does drawn in quicker than New York! :)
