Topic: See all CWOP stations in a map

Hi

I've made a page using Google Maps to show all the CWOP weather stations around the world.
The page utilizes the Google clustered marker manager, so the performance is good.
The marker manager groups the weather stations, so you just see a cluster for stations when you have not zoomed in very much.

The map is available at :
http://www.kanonbra.com/maps/cwop/all_stations_in_map.html

Stations with home pages are marked with red marker, the others with blue marker.

I've also made a KML file for all the stations, if you want to view them in Google Earth, for example, http://www.kanonbra.com/index.php/projects/weathergeneral/cwopdisplayinmap

The map page and KML file are updated daily.

Nice map and good use of Google API.  How did you determine which sites have web sites?  I do but my "pin" is blue.

I think your CWOP station id is CW5474, right ?
If so, then you are not on this page http://www.wxqa.com/webpages.html with a URL listed.
That's the page I use for finding which stations has a home page.

That is pretty nice.  I like the clustering, and the red vs blue pins is pretty cool.  You should look into putting the current conditions on your "pins".  CWOP provides an XML page (i.e. http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxxml.cgi?call=cw2323) for each station that you can read pretty easily through an AJAX call.  I made my page with Yahoo Maps (doesn't have the nice clustering), but you can kind of see how I did it at http://www.ruysfamily.com/HighlandsRanchWeather/WeatherMapper/Default.aspx

Well I don't know how to get my URL, or webcam, on that page.  And I don't see any instructions on how to do so.  Oh well.

Nice map. Just emailed Russ to get my site listed on the CWOP page. I too should have a red marker on the map. Hadn't noticed the CWOP member pages link before so hadn't been added.
