Data sending guidlines
« on: January 18, 2008, 07:04:14 PM »
As pointed out in this link
http://www.wxqa.com/news.html
Basically they want you to send your data with the minute that corresponds with the last number in your call sign. Example, mine is CW1118 so they suggest sending my data at 8 minutes after the hour at your selected interval. Preferably no more then once every ten minutes.

Hmm, and how the heck are we suppose to do that (changing the send time) in any of the software we use?

Good to know... I am going to send Steve at softwx (VPLive) a note. I can set the intervals, but can see no way to control the minute it sends... I see that WD can do that.

You can do it in WL. In the Data Upload Profile it has a time to start sending the data.

Just talked to Steve on another forum and he is going to update VPLive with that function for the next release. I run WD and WL also, so I could send it in that way if it's that big of a deal. I think I will wait a few days and see what Steve does for VPLive 1st... I like that little utility!!

Between now and when I get a new version of VPLive up, you can set the CWOP frequency to 9 or 11 minutes and you will achieve 99% of what they want with the new guidelines, i.e. your data will get sent at nearly 10 minute intervals, and the send times will be distributed so they don't always fall on multiples of 5 minutes.

Technically, it's only 90% of what they want.

Just kidding.  ;)

As VPLive is my software of choice for the CWOP submissions, I'll be anxiously awaiting this new version!
