Wim,

I appreciate the insite on getting the mesonet map going.  Here's my only issue...Everything is working fine, except I cannot get the map to appear.  I have the map in the /MWWM-mesomap folder.  Is that the right folder to put it in? Or am I putting it in the wrong folder?

I think the # on the folowing line is not there. The first line defines the new relative location, the second line (the original one)  should be commented out.
Code: [Select]
$Graphic = $fldr."BNLWN_meso.jpg";  // #### added / changed to run in the template
# $Graphic = "./BNLWN_meso.jpg";  // used for display on this page and in code gen.
The script still try to read the map from a diferent place.
Documentation: http://wiki.leuven-template.eu/doku.php?id=mesonets#adaption_of_the_standard_scripts
If you can not find it, you can send me the MWWN zip you downloaded and I will adapt it for you.
Succes, Wim

Wim,

I figured the problem out.   ](*,)  The entire issue was a permissions problem. Not missing a parameter.   #-o
All I needed to do was set my permissions for that set at 775 (both MWWN-mesomap and the mesomaps folders).
After that, the page loaded cleanly. No further issues.   \:D/

Again, I appreciate the help getting this resolved.
Can you also look at the local section of the radar.
In this link is my local radar on WU. The radar is NOT inactive.  http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?zoommode=pan&prevzoom=zoom&num=15&frame=0&delay=15&scale=1.000&noclutter=0&ID=DVN&type=N0R&showstorms=0&lat=41.53838730&lon=-90.55599976&label=Davenport,%20IA&map.x=400&map.y=240&scale=1.000&centerx=400&centery=240&showlabels=1&rainsnow=1&lightning=0&lerror=20&num_stns_min=2&num_stns_max=9999&avg_off=9999&smooth=1

Thanks for keeping up with me on this.

Hello Jonny,
I thought it was a simple typo (a missing = before the station name).
But your station DVN works differently as the others I have seen.
So I tested at home and changed the script to suit your DVN station.  I have no idea why DVN is different then the other tested stations but "one can never test enough".
Success, Wim

Wim,

New problem popped up while I was tweaking the site to my settings and liking.

While setting up WU forecast page, all went well. However, I am noticing that my forecast temps are in ºC while showing ºF following the temps.

I also want to implement different wind icons. what do I need to do to set them correctly without having to rename all of them?
I also have links to USWXGroup and USA Weather Finder that the links return with "Syntax Error, Parsing "<" in..."
   How to fix it?

I was also working on a traffic page based on the Iowa traffic page ( www.511ia.org). The setup is in .xml and the info is becoming confusing.
If you don't want to assist with that page, that's fine. I'll work on it as I can. Not a big deal.

Again, I appreciate your assistance.

Regards,

Jonny J.

Normally you DO NOT have to set anything in the scripts themselves.
The WU forecast gets its data from your settings in wsSettings.php and uses the latitude and longitude to retrieve the xml.

There are problems today with the WU servers today.  Could also be affecting your area.
To narrow down the problem:
1. First remove the cached file form weather2/cache/
         That file is wu.weather.php-en-41.537,-90.554-F-mph-in-inHg-mi
2. Test the forecast again.

I run the http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=50-3 which displays correctly.
wu.weather.php-EN-41.30068,-72.793671-F-mph-in-inHg-mi     "Nearly" in the same area.

I do not understand what you want to accomplish.
Will you use the same type of icons "Wind Direction Graphics by Mike Challis"?
If you use his nicely crafted generator you can name the first part of the icon-names as you want just before generating them.

I also have links to USWXGroup and USA Weather Finder that the links return with "Syntax Error, Parsing "<" in..."
   How to fix it?
On what page are these links?

Hello Erik,
The available languages can be downoaded from
http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/_template2/template.php?lang=nl&step3
on top of the page. Danish is not yet in it.
BUT there is a description of how to proceed because it is necessary to modify the settings if a new langiuage is available, before it can be shown.  You need  wind-roses also (there is a description for that in the language download) and a flag.
There is another Danish user http://www.vejr3.dk/weather2/index.php which already is using his site in Danish.

I will add the expanded and revised content of the readme for the language installation also to the WiKi in the next week.

If you still run into problems, please let me know. You can also use the support system at http://leuven-template.eu/index.php?lang=en or at any of the demo sites at www.weerstation-leuven.be/weather2/.

Succes, Wim

I was also working on a traffic page based on the Iowa traffic page ( www.511ia.org). .......

Jonny J.
Hello Jonny,
I tried to connect to that site with Chrome, Opera and FF.
The only pages which are displayed is the startpage from your link and the "full featured" en "streamlined" versions of the map.

All other links, including contact, RSS and so on are timed out.

I suspect that they block (as others do) foreign IP adresses.

Succes, Wim

Wim,

I got the wind graphic figured out. Just had to adjust the image from a png to a gif.

The USWXGroup and USA weather finder I intend to put in the side column (side colom).
The string I need to place is:  <a href="http://www.uswxgroup.org"><img src="http://uswxgroup.org/rankings/button.php?u=jonnyj771" alt="United States Weather Group" border="0" /></a>
The USA Weather Finder is a similar string. When I place the string into a space in the side column, I get a Parsing error as I mentioned above. If I alter the string, it may not work. Any idea how to set this string in without putting it in the text file?

The WU forecast page is still showing temps in ºC with ºF following it.  I have gone in to see what I may need to adjust, but cannot find the problem. I'm wondering if it's a difference in the url string similar to the problem I had with the DVN Radar image.

I again appreciate your assistance in all of this.

Regards,

Jonny J.

Now I understand. This is another "partner" with which you share your weather-data, same as with WU.
The easiest way to go: add those partners to the weather2/partners/partner.txt file.
I included a modified version for you to start with.
Also take a look at the demo for North America http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=82 . It shows the two places this information is displayed. The side- or bottom area and the separate page with more information.
I will also add some description in the WiKi.

Well it works like a charm at  http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=50-3.
There is no need at al to change anything in these scripts as all adaptions are automatic, based on your settings in wsSettings.php.
1. Please restore the original script (I attached it to this post)
2. Remove the cached file weather2/cache/wu.weather.php-en-41.537,-90.554-F-mph-in-inHg-mi

I again appreciate your assistance in all of this.

@Jonny J.  @all      IMPORTANT:
There are updates to the original download. Not very urgent, but for instance the transparent menu when there is a snow condition is extremely anoying. Please check from time to time the download site if there are new updates and install them all.  http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/_template2/template.php?lang=en&step3

Most important for now:
* Remove transparent menu with snow condition
* Remove error in thermometer when all temps are far below freezing

Wim,

Thanks. Not sure what the difference was. I had deleted the cache file for wu previously. Hadn't changed anything. This time, I deleted the cache then uploaded the file you sent me. That fixed it. Not sure what the difference was.

New issue, been fightning with it for some time now...

SteelSeries Gauges, I keep updating the clientrawlocal.txt file from the wdConfig.php page. Still shows up as corrupt. I see the template uses v 1.05b. I noticed the SteelSeries has several updates. the latest is 2.4.3. The thread can be found here:
http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/topic,54945.0.html.
Is there a possibility to update the SteelSeries to current. I cannot confirm, but it may be my problem for the corrupt file.

An extensive answer:  You should be running the first few eeeks with debug= yes to remove typo errors. That means that all PHP errors will then be reported. There is an error in your settings file which is not shown until you run with debug = yes  or  with the debug option on the URL. http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=10&debug The errors are hidden behind the background image. You removed the customize option from the menu so the only way to see those errors is in the source of the page.
Code: [Select]

The version of the gauges, as used in the Leuven-Template, is a well proven version running for WD, CW, WC, MH, MB and Weatherlink. And it works with dynamic changes of language and UOMs. Although I am testing 2.4x at the moment it will not be for this release but maybe for the 2.5 release.

But all the scripts can be modified by yourself. It is the choice of the website owner if it is worh the hours spent to implement another version of any script. There are examples and "newpage"-scripts to help.

Wim,
Thanks for helping me correct that.  It was my intention to remove the "no choice"  section so I can link directly to a particular page on Facebook. I'll go back to working that correctly at a later time.

I have also noticed the clientraw is supposed to update the page temps/conditions every few seconds.  I had an issue with WD having stopped collecting data from my station. I got that going again,  but now the page is not updating but every 5 minutes when the testtags upload. I have gone in and set updates to every 5 seconds in the wsSettings page,  to no avail.
Any ideas on a fix for this?
The clientraw does upload from WD  every few seconds as I had originally set.

You can link directly to any existing page by adding the pagename/number to the url. Example: if you want to link directly to your WD-Live page use: http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=21 or maybe you have french speaking friends from Canada, you could give them the link to the forecast page in french http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=50-3&lang=fr

I have also noticed the clientraw is supposed to update the page temps/conditions every few seconds.
Here I am lost. Thre are only two realtime-data files uploaded as of now.
  • The clientraw is used to update the WD-Live page.
  • The steelseries have there own realtime file, as discussed earlier.

I had an issue with WD having stopped collecting data from my station. I got that going again,  but now the page is not updating but every 5 minutes when the testtags upload.
Which page is not updating? Your home page is: http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=10

I have gone in and set updates to every 5 seconds in the wsSettings page,  to no avail.
This is really only generating enormous loads on your webserver. There are realtime pages which retrieve small amounts of data for gauges and the like. And there is the rest of the pages in the template which are only updated when the big load of data has arived. If there are meters the visitors maybe want to see them every so many seconds. But the startpage which all that information? The realtime values of WU and WD-L are continually updated. The rest of the values evey 5 seconds is overkill.

Any ideas on a fix for this?  The clientraw does upload from WD  every few seconds as I had originally set.
Due to the language difficulties I am lost what you want to achieve.

The WU panel refreshes its information every 5 seconds or so
==> works ok as shown on your startpage. I hope the upload from WD is also that frequent

The gauges request there information based on a setting, currently var g_count = 30 seconds.
==> functions correctly at http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=25

So does WD-Live for which the request time it is set to 60 seconds in your config.xml,  but uploading happens every 5 seconds.
==> functions correctly at  http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=21

The rest of the information will be updated based on a new version of testtags available, which is default set to 5 minutes to lessen the load on your webserver.
You could set WD to upload the testtags every 1 or 2 minutes, but why? There are no moving dials on the other pages and the average / min /max values do not change that often. And very important, all the other pages have no changing weather-data on them. The only exception is http://lightningweather.com/weather2/index.php?p=61 which only display 5 minute values.

Hello Stewart,
I hope that I described that question in the Wiki at
http://wiki.leuven-template.eu/doku.php?id=miscellaneous#adding_one_extra_tag_value_to_be_used_on_your_start-page
If it is not clear after reading that page, please ask for more information. I will adapt the WiKi then also for future users.

Wim

@ALL North American users - NOAA forecast error

For one reason or another (sloppiness) I let a test setting in the NOAA Plain forecast script so that it defaults to Brandford CT.

When Dennis Hall from http://rathdrumweather.us/ notified me about this (thanks Dennis) I discovered also that, in the NOAA xml,  for the rural areas a different field is used as for the cities.

Please replace the two NOAA scripts in weather2/noaa with these new ones, AFTER making a backup copy of the old scripts.

There is also a download available with all updates since the original 2.4 release.
You find this at the download area: http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/_template2/template.php?lang=en&step3

Have a nice sunday,

Wim

Small query, this may sound like a particularly dumb and trivial question, I've been rearranging menu tabs and would like all the main tabs descriptions to have uppercase first letter example "home page" to be "Home Page", webcam to Webcam , altering the text in wsMenuData.xml doesn't seem to affect some of them and cant find anything in the Wiki
