Beta of PWSweather.com better than Wunderground?
« on: February 22, 2020, 04:44:47 PM »
The public beta of PWSweather.com is now available!
It looks great and smooth to me, nicer than Wunderground today.

The new site not only includes PWSweather.com stations but also METAR and MADIS. Also you can select overlays for radar, satellite and alerts.

What do you think? Take a look here:

Well, from what I can see so far, it updates too slow, the temp is rounded, the pressure is wrong (30.01" actual vs 29.93), the daily rain is wrong (.28" actual vs .30" and 0", both displayed), the wind extreme is wrong (13mph vs 20mph actual)....Other than that...Obviously a work in progress.

Just to further update, the wind gust is now correct, it just took so long to show up due to the update interval being so slow. Also the dew point should be on the "home page", not just the dashboard.

Don't like the look on mobile...too many clicks to see everything...original site everything is right there.

I've been sending data to them for years now but my PWS does not show up on the map until I specifically query for it.  That's a bug.

Submit a support ticket with your information. I had 2 different sites not showing and notified support. They got things fixed for me.

Maybe it's just me but, eh.
Site really doesn't do much for me.
What I would like to see is an Android app with highly detailed graphs.
Plus the ability to see live data.
If you are going to do radar then you should do L2 that's raw data and not smoothed
and custom color palettes should be an option.

While I'm at it SPC data, model data, hurricane data, Goes products, etc etc should all be implemented with highly customizable settings.
I wouldn't even mind paying for a site that did that. Just too many of these same weather sites with a same size fits all set up.
I understand it's beta, and new options and improvements will come but initially I'm not a fan.

Use the support link to report issues with the beta site - they were receptive to my issue.  My site wasn't showing up as a PWS either.

I agree. Add a wind flag on there.

Is it time to add PWS weather (Aeris Weather) to the Weather Related Organizations now that they have stepped up. At least all posts related to them would be in one place.

It is a bit confusing. Are they 2 separate entities or are they connected?

WeatherForYou and PWSweather are related. The two used to be one and the same. Then about 4 years ago PWSweather was transferred (sold) to AerisWeather. But WeatherForYou still provides support for PWSweather. The WeatherForYou site uses data from PWSweather. If you set up a station on PWSweather then your station data shows up on WeatherForYou also....but you have to claim the station as yours in order to be credited for that data (on WeatherForYou).

Seems easier to have a separate area for AerisWeather/PWS Weather.  IMHO.

"Captcha verification failed. If you are not a robot, please refresh the page." When there is no Captcha visible, tried on Chrome and FF  :?

Captcha is a known issue. Please offer your feedback of this latest occurrence.

Station not showing up is something I've heard only a couple times. I don't know the cause or what the resolve is. I would tell you to contact PWSweather but you can't via the support link. Try an email to support (at) AerisWeather.zendesk.com and let us know how it goes.

I was able to submit a ticket but was not presented with a Captcha, so either they just disabled it or I got lucky.  Either way I received the submission confirmation email.  My issue is the same as mentioned above...my PWS, which has reported to PWSweather for quite awhile now, does not show on the "overview" beta site map but I can call it up using the search function, so they have the data.

Since discovered my station does appear, but is shown with it's MADIS ID F6511  not my  PWS station ID  IFIFEGLE4 also the data is at least 30 mins behind the current uploads

They are both there. You just have to zoom way in. I would recommend that you edit your PWSweather location to better match your CWOP station location. Or the other way around. There is a slight discrepancy in the exact location of both of these. When the two locations match more perfectly then the PWSweather ID takes precidence and shows that one on top on the map. The PWSweather could then have better immediacy of data because you can upload more requently than what gets pulled from your CWOP/MADIS ID.

Here is your dashboard link:

Thanks for the link, how you got to it I have no idea. Following it is the only way I can display my station IFIFEGLE4.
If I enter IFIFEGLE4 into the station search box the search freezes, if I enter F6511 it finds the station, if I then go to the map and zoom in to
the max I can't see  IFIFEGLE4 (if I follow your link I can zoom in until I see both) as for the location, my station coordinates are the same in Cumulus, PWS, WOW and MADIS I use the same coordinates for everything relating to my PWS. If I compare the locations for both in the beta dashboards they are the same 56.19, -3.15
Both Chrome and Firefox on Android are the same, either I'm doing something wrong or there's something not right in the beta. If it's me then I have no idea what it is or how to correct it.
When I get a chance I'll give it a try on my PC and see what happens.
