Can't get USB connection to ws85 and ws90 with windows 11 24H2 (same on all win 24H2 PCs that I tried).
Managed to update firmware to both with Win10 though, so all is good.

Anybody managed that with Windows 11 24H2? Any tips and tricks?

it doesn't work is not a helpful description ...
what doesn't work and what works ?
there are several steps to be done to get the upgrade software properly installed.
When something worked in a Win10 installation, it doesn't mean that the install under Win11 went through properly.
Did you read the troubleshooting section in the WiKi and verified that all files are where they are supposed to be ?
There is a chapter in the Troubleshooting section: cannot upgrade the firmware of my WS80/WS85/WS90 outdoor array

For WS90, on Windows 11 Pro 24H2, build 26100.4061 drivers won't install. Installer will run and complete with success message, but drivers won't get installed. Neither will there be an entry in registry. No relevant entries in Event Viewer.
My guess is 24H2 doesn't like that old driver that was last updated in June 2018 and tested up to Win10.
Code: [Select]
* V3.0.6 - 01-June-2018
=====================

New Features
************
    + Signed and Certified  driver Included in the package for:
      - Microsoft Windows 10 x86 and all earlier x86 OS
      - Microsoft Windows 10 x64 and all earlier x64 OS

Driver is also kernel level service type, and there is quite a difference between Win10 and Win11 24H2 how kernel drivers are handled.
So that's up to Ecowitt to do something about and test and update drivers to be used with most recent windows versions.

Updating WS85, in principle should be easier (no need to install drivers and EcowittISPTool is fairly recent from April 2024), but you'll get loads of "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" in Event Viewer and Device Manager. The usual deleting the device in Device Manager, using different cable, different USB port, different machine, cold reboots, etc, won't help. The only things in common across few machines that I tried are Windows 11 24H2 26100.4061, WS85 and EcowittISPTool. So something is off on one of these.

And as I've mentioned previously, it worked just fine on Win10 Pro on old laptop with both, WS85 and WS90.

Did you upgrade your USB drivers of your mainboard ?
My chipset drivers are up to date an all machines that I tried.

Many things to be considered ...

Does the WS80 use the same updater? If so that worked fine a couple of weeks ago for me on an up to date Windows laptop. I flashed two WS80s, though the updater was installed maybe a year ago.

WS80 and WS90 have the same chipset and upgrade tool (--> WiKi), only the WS85 has a different one - and the "Ambient WS90", the WS-4000-ARRAY, also needs a different upgrade tool as it also uses a different chipset. So far, however, as far as I know, no upgrade has been offered there.

Also my Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (10.1.26100.4202) has no issues with a WS90 upgrade

If you don't mind me asking, do you have memory integrity on or off (windows security->device security->core isolation)?
