WXAstronomy
« on: December 05, 2024, 12:59:30 PM »
I'm using a modified version.  Can't remember where I got it from here.  The reason I liked this version a bit better was the sun picture to the top left used to show a shot of the sun, along with sunspot numbers on it.

Well that graphic no longer works.  Hoping someone can help fix it.

I think the image names have changed.  It's looking for https://spaceweather.com/images2024/04dec24/hmi1898.gif  I think the image name has changed to the SW name.   https://spaceweather.com/images2024/04dec24/sw1898.gif  That looks to be the current image like before.

I took a look at the include-wxastronomy file.  Found a couple of references to hmi1898.gif.  Tried changing it to sw1898.gif.  Didn't fix it.

Not sure where you want me to put that in.

GWWilkins looks like he added in this section that looks for a recent rendition of the hmi1898.gif file

   $sunSW = array($dayMoYear.'/hmi200.gif',
'https://spaceweather.com/images'.$yr4.'/'.$dayMoYear.'/hmi1898.gif'); // Spaceweather rendition corrected by GWWilkins

His script is using spaceweather.com .. the URL I cited is from NASA instead.

You could comment out that code and use
Quote
$sunSW = 'https://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/images/latest_eit_304_thumbnail.gif';
instead.

I changed the $sunSW section, that didn't fix it.

I looked for any other instances of hmi1898.gif and changed those 2 sections to yours as well.  Still not showing the sun.

You need to change it so that it reads as:
Quote
# $sunSW = array($dayMoYear.'/hmi200.gif',
#     'https://spaceweather.com/images'.$yr4.'/'.$dayMoYear.'/hmi1898.gif'); // Spaceweather rendition corrected by GWWilkins
$sunSW = 'https://umbra.nascom.nasa.gov/images/latest_eit_304_thumbnail.gif';

Hi,

Just to add my two cents............Does this have anything to do with lack of images?.........

NOTICE: There is an image outage of the Sunspot images due to a cooling water line burst in the Joint Science Operations Center (JSOC) at Stanford University on 2024-11-26. The images are provided by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) mission. Status updates are provided at SDO's JSOC Emergency Resources page.

Just a thought, as my sunspot images are down, and can assume everyone else's is too who use that same script.

Nick.

Could be.  Maybe I just need to chill for a week, see if they come back.  Honestly not sure when they went down.

Here's are answer.....

Status:
All resources from the Stanford JSOC website and data system are unavailable until repairs and recovery are completed
IRIS Level 2 data through November 22, 2024 remain available at iris.lmsal.com/search/
The Virtual Solar Observatory is the best location to find historical AIA and HMI science data through November 26, 2024, though not all dates and products are available
SDO EVE data products are not impacted by this outage
27-November-2024
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024 a 4-inch chilled-water pipe in the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) Joint Science Operations Center (JSOC) server room broke. This caused major flooding in the building and extensive water damage in the lab that houses the machines that process and distribute data from the Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) and Atmospheric Imaging Array (AIA) instruments and from the IRIS spacecraft. The Stanford JSOC team is working to assess the extent of the damage, but it is severe. Science data processing for HMI, AIA, and IRIS will be down for an extended length of time, as will access to the archived data at JSOC.

The data capture systems for all three instruments remain functional, so ultimately incoming data are not expected to be lost. Instrument health and safety monitoring is being handled at the Instrument Operations Center at the Lockheed Martin Solar & Astrophysics Lab (LMSAL). The instruments continue to function normally.

The team will provide updates as more information becomes available. We deeply regret any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as our team prioritizes the repair and recovery of the affected systems.

Find this at......

Thanks.

Found the answer to the script for getting back Sunspot daily image - all be it in black and white, no color image at present due to the server failure..............

include-wxastronomy.php
line 107 approx.

$sunSW = array($dayMoYear.'/sw1898.gif',    <---    THIS HAS TO ALTERED TOO AS STATED HERE - Not just the next line !
'https://spaceweather.com/images'.$yr4.'/'.$dayMoYear.'/sw1898.gif'); // Spaceweather rendition corrected by GWWilkins

Enter exactly and you'll have your image.

Check out my page.

Thanks. nick. dw7240.com.
