Title: Heat Wave in the Lower Columbia Basin of Washington
Post by: Hayden M on July 29, 2022, 07:27:35 PM
It sure is hot here...wish there was some wind or rain to cool us down. My two La Crosse PWS's, a V61 and C83100, recorded a high temperature yesterday of 111 and 110, respectively. Already reached that again today. It is currently 110 at the Tri Cities Airport (KPSC), 109 at CWOP Station K7IBC, and 110 at Hanford (HMMN). Looking at the NWS Weather and Hazards Data Viewer, temperatures range from 100-110 elsewhere in the Basin. This heat wave, while miserable, is still cooler than last years "Heat Dome" of late June/early July.

The peak of the heat wave has passed.  =D> The hottest it got was 111°F on both July 28th and 29th, which was a new high temperature record for both dates. The Tri Cities Airport recorded a high temperature of 112°F on the 29th. There was also two wildfires, one just a few miles Southwest of me on the 28th that grew to 115 acres...and another in Walla Walla County North of the Walla Walla Regional Airport which prompted level 1 evacuation notices on the 29th, and contained later that evening. Today was cooler, with only a high temperature of 104°F. Did see some thunderstorms on Satellite and Doppler Radar across Central and Northeast Oregon as well. I am sure a few new fires were started. Anyone else in the Pacific Northwest have any temperatures, or anything interesting, to share?..I am curios what others have seen over the past week.
