Does anyone know of an official or unofficial primer on how Wunderground names its imagery (icons/radar images, etc.)?
I have somewhat decoded some of them through trial and error but sure would be handy if we had a guide to go by. I've learned some of them by poking around in VWS as well.
http://icons.wunderground.com/data/640x480/2xse_sf_anim.gif (southeast)
http://icons-pe.wunderground.com/data/640x480/2xne_sf_anim.gif (northeast)
The above two links are to animated gifs that display a 30-minute radar loop for the southeast (se) and the northeast (ne)
From the /data part of the URL I can decode the naming strategy but they reference different subdomains (icons.wunderground.com vs. icons-pe.wunderground.com). I'm sure they have some internal strategy that tells their folks how to name and park files so that automated processes can grab and display them.
Anyone have any ideas or thoughts about this? Thanks.
