new Meteobridge Aurora Cloud dashboard
« on: May 17, 2025, 08:59:05 AM »
for those who are using Meteobridge or Ambient Weatherbridge, Meteobridge has now from version 6.2 on a cloud-based solution for its Aurora dashboard. A local (= not inside the Meteobridge cloud) version is also available. 9 layouts selectable.
It's implemented as a Weather Network Service.
A live example, where also history, forecasts etc. can be viewed, can be found on my weather landing page under "at a glance ..." (see link in the signature).
A more elaborated description is contained in our WiKi: https://meshka.eu/Ecowitt/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=start#the_meteobridge_aurora_dashbaord.
For users of Meteobridge in the repurposed router version, the upload frequency is 5 minutes - for the more modern versions 30 seconds or more.

NICE! Something new to play with!

Thought I had my AW meteobridge set to use the gw3000 and it was working fine.
Noticed on the Meteobridge Aurora Cloud dashboard it said gw1000.

Everything in the AW meteobridge works when set to the gw1000. However, when set to gw3000 nothing works at all.
Not sure if upgrading the MB to 6.2 change the gw3000 to gw1000, or if I always had it set to the gw1000.

the GW1000 interface supports the binary local Ecowitt API,
the GW3000 interface supports the local http API
with the sensors you show the local binary API should work properly
however, the local http API should also work with GW1100, GW2000, GW3000, WS3900.
If it doesn't work for you with the http API, maybe there is an implementation error - and something Boris will have to correct.
With my GW3000 the GW3000 interface works correctly - I just noticed a glitch in the live data table - the Outdoor sensor name says "4 Leaf" instead of "4 Outdoor" - will report that to Boris (but the readings are correct for Outdoor T, RH and P). - My station #4.

So I have all my data from 2020 on hosting site where I have been sending data for W34.

So if I get the files in the "charts" folder, zip them up, and upload to the new W34? It will unpack and install to proper spots????

So if I get the files in the "charts" folder, zip them up, and upload to the new W34? It will unpack and install to proper spots????
I suggest the following procedure which worked well for me:
- install 7Zip to work on the .tgz archives
- install the dashboard by activating the 30second posting and then click on the MB logo in the weather station upload tile - the cloud dashboard opens
- let it run for an hour or so to create entries for the current day
- open the dashboard admin, do all the configuration - especially from what date on you have history data (afaik needed for getting the folders created)
- save
- go again into menu, dashboard Admin, there the first option is download the data files
- download the files - an archive named "aurora-archive-20250518.tgz" (date will be different) will be downloaded into your browser download folder
- right-click that file and open with 7zip
- click on the archive entry and the whole file system structure will be presented
- now drag and drop the 2020.csv, thru 2025.csv files into the archive (root level - not into any directory)
- go to the 2025 directory (double-click)
- drag your current May.csv file there
- close the 7Zip Manager and thereby save the new content
- in the dashboard admin select your downloaded and updated archive for upload and click upload
- the files in the cloud will be overwritten with that content - and you will be able to see the data in the respective years

Yes, the gw3000 when set as primary station in the AW MB nothing works. Will report later today.

The gw3000 works fine when using the gw1000 setting as the primary station.

The Bug when using the GW3000 station setting has been fixed.

It offers a 30 second refresh time, so seems like a good choice for someone using an old tablet as their console.

I'm finding the Aurora Cloud to be my go-to dashboard

Setting everything up has been a small challenge. However, it's not above my pay grade, even I can do it.
It just seems to be taking up a lot of my free time right now.

I've added the little runbook to the WiKi

Once I sat down and actually did it, seemed fairly easy.

I am not sure about the one step:

- go to the 2025 directory (double-click)
- drag your current May.csv file there

The only place I saw a May.csv in my files was already in the 2025 folder.

So we upload all historical data available, back to 2020.

But on the dashboard, only the current year is available to view in charts.

Is there any issue with Aurora Cloud using .png for webcam?

I tried it with my hosted Aurora and it works but the cloud seems to be sticking to the previous .jpg URL even though I saved the new config.

.jpg is on MB and .png is on my hosted site.

http://192.168.5.221:88/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture.........     (incomplete link in my LAN)

https://www.morewoodweather.ca/Testing/Sun/WebToday.png

It seems to only take what is set as CAM on MB, not what is set in the admin of the template.

if so, we have to open a ticket and ask Boris for a respective change
there are two case
1. a MB registered camera
2. a MB independent camera
both should work
I have an independent camera and already noticed that it is not shown (jpg) in the template tile even with the proper URL.

I've added the little runbook to the WiKi

Once I sat down and actually did it, seemed fairly easy.

I am not sure about the one step:

- go to the 2025 directory (double-click)
- drag your current May.csv file there

The only place I saw a May.csv in my files was already in the 2025 folder.
Yes, there is, created at the installation time of the dashboard
when you still have a May.csv from your old installation, copy the data from it and merge them with the now existing Aurora Cloud May.csv file and then save it into the 2025 cloud directory overwriting the there existing one.
if you don't have an old May.csv from 2025, leave it - it will be discarded end of the month

It appeared that when I copied the 2020-25 folders into the archive, it brought a fully populated May.csv file. I didn't see where I would glean any other version nor any other place to put it.

When I browse the dashboard, I see the full available May data on the graphs so ........ is there any issue with what I did?

Is there any issue with Aurora Cloud using .png for webcam?

I tried it with my hosted Aurora and it works but the cloud seems to be sticking to the previous .jpg URL even though I saved the new config.

.jpg is on MB and .png is on my hosted site.

http://192.168.5.221:88/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture.........     (incomplete link in my LAN)

https://www.morewoodweather.ca/Testing/Sun/WebToday.png

It seems to only take what is set as CAM on MB, not what is set in the admin of the template.
if so, we have to open a ticket and ask Boris for a respective change
there are two case
1. a MB registered camera
2. a MB independent camera
both should work
I have an independent camera and already noticed that it is not shown (jpg) in the template tile even with the proper URL.
The URL in a webbrowser would show the picture

I got my camera working. I upload the image of sun data from the BL Recorder software to a file at my web hosting account. I point the MB Webcam to the URL of the image. I tell both Aurora Dashboards to use MB Webcam. I don't see my overlay text but I would guess that has something to do with .png format and or resolution change. Something to work on as time permits. I just want to publish the BL Recorder data somewhere other than my PC lol

I now have the information to populate a decent website with the Monthly, Yearly etc. data.

Knowing how to make a site is a whole other problem.    ](*,)

If you camera has an on overlay function , it will be embedded in the image, regardless of format.
I would use other means to see if the camera or the BL Recorder (I'm not familiar with that) , is not applying the overlay

Edit: I don't use a meteobridge and what I just said may not apply. But , most cameras have an overlay, like a timestamp. If this is something else , sorry, my bad.

BL Recorder software is just making an image. I pluck the image with Meteobridge from a URL, just like I normally did with my camera that has an image available at a URL.

The overlay I use happens within Meteobridge. The camera icon with "+text" should link to an image with the weather data banner along bottom. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

It's a bonus item for now as I will want to sort out being able to show my Sun data and also the original camera. The camera is where the banner really needs to be an should return just fine when I reactivate it. More a point of interest.

So we upload all historical data available, back to 2020.

But on the dashboard, only the current year is available to view in charts.

Is it possible to have charts viewable from previous years on the Cloud Dashboard?

And this is weird with the Apple Watch view:
