The last time I was in our small two-traffic-light town the price was $2.85...a week ago, the Friday before Memorial Day. I was headed to a town roughly 20 miles east and needed gas but held out to see what it was over there. I ended up buying gas for $2.67 at Liberty(?)...Walmart. Other stations there were about the same price. So, an 18-cent difference twenty miles away.
An interesting point is that we have four gas stations here...
three Marathons and a Citgo (Tom Thumb store). Seems kind of crazy to have that many stations in a small town like ours but we are on a tourist route to the Florida panhandle beaches, albeit a mix of mostly 2-lane roads with some 4-lane stretches mingled in. But...three of the same brand???
The town 20 miles east of us has a solid 4-lane highway running from Montgomery (interchange city for I-65 and I-85) all the way to Panama City Beach, Florida...but yet there gas was 18-cent cheaper than ours. They are a much larger town/city than us and have more gas brands so there is a little more competition there. Something does seem rather greasy about the pricing the stations in our little town.
Did ya'll see where North Face just refused to make a oil/gas company jackets because they didn't want to be associated with an oil company???? Hypocrisy so bad it's laughable...being as most of NF's merchandise, especially their fleece, is made from petroleum.
