Apache vs Litespeed Based Servers
« on: November 01, 2018, 01:14:59 AM »
Hi All,

I don't know if this is the proper place for this inquiry, if not, can someone put it in the proper place?

The host that I am currently using is offering to their Litespeed server to upgrade from their Apache based server.  Are there any issues with this upgrade? Any pros and cons with the Litespeed based server?

Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome.

Regards,

Probably won't make a difference to you.  IT is a proprietary (as opposed to open source) server.  Are they charging more for it?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Although Litespeed is a commercial product, the host that I am using will not charge for the migration nor any price changes to what I am currently paying.

Hope it will be seamless and the only change will be the IP address, DNS will be the same.

I hope there will no issues with things like our PHP scripts.

Litespeed is not as common as some of the other servers, but it has benefits for the sys admins.  Apache-compatible.

We moved planoweather.com to a LiteSpeed server at GeekStorage.com last May when they had a great deal on their Performance Hosting plans. We have not had any issues.
