The night minimums here currently are around freezing point, it gets relatively cold after sunset, during the day it is around 10 (50F). I wonder if we get any snow this winter at all... last few winters we had practically nothing, it did snow but it never stayed on ground for too long, usually a few days at most.
Historically how much snow do you usually get?

I mentioned this in the other forum about climate change as well...

It really depends, at higher elevations in the mountains there is already plenty of snow now (about 2 inches).

I live in one of the lowest and warmest parts of the country and in addition in the second largest city, with significant heat island effect. Nevertheless, we do get snow regularly. However, when I was "young" (I mean like 10, so about 20yrs ago) we had snow for like 1-2 months straight and went sledging often. These days.... as I said previously, since I guess 2000 at least, there is maybe a few days with some very little snow on ground, but hardly anything. And it usually melts very quickly. In 2012 we had quite cold span, but it was also an anomaly... the winter was very warm and then suddenly in the mid February, it got extremely cold (well below freezing point, there was even a week when the daily maxium did not get over -10C) and that lasted even to beginning of March, but there was not much precipitation, so also no snow.

99.8 at 1:58pm, humidity in the 20% range.  Forecast shows a chance of showers the next couple of days so hopefully it will cool down.

Having an heat wave here. Woke up this morning and it was 11 degrees. Wind over night kept the temps up above the zero mark.

C or F?

We still use the German physicist inventor of the mercury thermometer who also devised the temperature scale bearing his name.  Fahrenheit

Hey, since the metric crowd changed Celsius to Centigrade, maybe we should start referring to Fahrenheit as Fartigrade. ;)

Morning, well we finally got into the minus side of the temps column.  Minus 5 this morning under clear skies. Did have an brief warm up for couple days as downs lope winds brought warmer temps from compression.  Looking ahead in the forecast it looks like we are in another cool down cycle.  By the way Jac that -5 F.

The big push may well be in the bering as I write this . 966 mb and dropping. 75 knot winds for casted for Gambel and other areas. All that warm air will push this cold somewhere south.

I maintain that seasons are shifting.  Warmer later into Fall, but cooler later into Spring.  October is the new September.

60's next week.  Halloween high of 61.

We have not hit 32 yet. May be one of the latest 32 on record

NWS Twin Cities ‏@NWSTwinCities  1h1 hour ago
Latest date Twin Cities has seen 32 or colder was 11/7/1900. Forecast through next week suggests this year may eclipse that mark.

Over 70 already this morning, though it feels quite a bit warmer.

Have only seen a few wooley worms so far, but they're taking on their normal colors.  The ones I've seen so far are black at both ends, brown in between with no banding.

Hearing rumors of a big chill by mid-month, maybe flipping to below or well below normal.

First freeze of the season here hasn't happened and long range it still won't happen through Nov. 20.  Nov. 2 was the last day with high in the 80s, very near record.  But a TV weatherman said he expects no more 80s for the rest of the year.

Where does he get the long range? Found this computer model for comparison. http://www.weathertab.com/en/g/united-states/oklahoma/74074-stillwater/

The weather here currently more or less what you would expect at this time of the day - mostly cloudy/overcast, today raining most of the day, daily max around 10 C (50F) and at night around freezing point.
Next week however a cold front is expected to arrive on Tuesday and temperatures dropping significantly below the average, at night as low as -8 C (17F), and snow even at the lowest elevations, which is rather unusual. We normally dont have temperatures too much below freezing point in the first half of Nov.
