WeatherCat hanging
« on: October 17, 2019, 11:03:38 AM »
I've had my weather station (Davis Pro2 with Envoy) up and running for 7 years and have never had a problem.  The software is WeatherCat running on an iMac.  All of a sudden I'm getting strange results.  The WeatherCat gauge window reports a communications error and hangs, so I have to force quit the software, and when restarted, it seems to run fine for a day or so. (It's as if the envoy is pulling an interrupt, but not giving any data up to the software.)

I looked in the data and here are some suspicious lines:

I don't know what the Sy1 - Sy5 indicate, but they don't appear on other lines.

I've replaced batteries in the weather station itself and in the envoy (which also has plug power).
One can see strange activity on some of the graphs on my weather page.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem and are there any suggestions as to how to fix it?

You can check from Tools -> Live data to see if there is some sensor errors..
You can also install newest USB uart drivers for datalogger...

I had updated the uart a year ago when I updated my iMac.  I'll monitor the live data if/when this problem continues.  Thanks for the suggestion.

No sensor errors reported on the last hang.  Same situation, WeatherCat hangs, but restart after a force quit fixes the problem.  Any other suggestions?

Well, I decided to simply reboot the iMac.  It had been acting a bit strange - wouldn't sleep at all, nor would it go into the screen saver.  After rebooting, the weather station problem has not occurred.  It seems like this problem was an OS problem and not a weather station nor WeatherCat problem at all.  Thanks for the suggestions.
