Weathelink Console Issues - Weaterlink Web Doesnt Update
« on: June 10, 2024, 07:21:34 PM »
Hi all.  My WL Console was purchased last March (2023) and has worked flawlessly until yesterday.  Now it will not upload data.  I found the unit was frozen yesterday at 8:46 AM  on June 9, 2024 and none of the home screens would move.  I ended up having to press reset on the back and the unit returned to showing the correct data (matching the other older Vantage Pro 2 consoles), however, it would not upload to the Weatherlink site.  I reviewed the WIFi settings and confirmed nothing had changed, and it was indeed set to a 2.4G signal.  I even changed it to another 2.4G signal that I have for guests and it is still not uploading.  The console is showing good wifi reception.  I even checked my WL subscription and its good thru 2027

Any thoughts on what the issue is?

One possibility would be a firewall issue on your router. But probably best to talk through with Davis support.

Dr Parker with Davis got back to me.  This morning on WL it was showing the current updated times but the console was not showing data from outside data while my older ones were.  He suggested unplugging power for 10 secs, then holding the P button down for another 10 secs.  Then replugging in the power supply.  This seems to have worked as the display is showing correctly and WL website displays current and correct info.  Thanks all.  BTW, I have asked Dr Parker for clarification on the differences between the P and R buttons on the rear of the unit.  I will revert with the info if I hear from him.

The difference is well-known. R-button reset is a soft reset. P-button reset is a full power-down reset, which is rarely needed but may be useful where the P-button reset is insufficient.

Sadly Davis support and customer service have gone down the hole.

Not sure what other products out there come even close.  It makes me sad as the Davis of the early 2000s was bulletproof.

Edit:  Have issues with an VP2 console and the barometer crapping out after 12 or so years.  Same unit has issues with the ethernet WL dongle not updating WL.com  despite all of its data being broadcast on the LAN and a meteobridge being able to capture it.  Called Davis, sat on hold for forever, I knew more technical details than they did

Wanted to get my father a new console to replace the above VP2 console.  Found out the hard way that the range is just absolutely garbage compared to the VP2 console.

I could go on and on but I won't bore you anymore.

Yet another Weatherlink Console Software Bug (besides the fact that my console doesn't update to Weatherlink.com):

Whenever I set the console elevation (where the barometer is) to 10 m, it always reverts back to either 0 or 1ft.  It also ignores that I have selected meters and not feet.

I'm careful to check the green arrow (seemingly equivalent to "enter") before saving but to no avail.

Going to be sending a long list of bugs to Davis Support
