Weatherbridge and EcowittWH57 Lightning Sensor
« on: July 03, 2024, 05:12:05 PM »
Hi guys,

I have recently installed the Ecowitt WH57 Lightning Sensor to my HP2560 WS90 system. Unfortunately, the sensor data do not show up in LiveData or reach any networks.

Any hints?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have something like a GW1000 (I guess that it is now "GW1100") device? You might want to confirm compatibility between GW1000 and GW1100 with Ecowitt before ordering.

The WH57 will not work directly with the weatherbridge without some kind of gateway/hub that collects the data from the GW1000 (or subsequent) device.

You will need to add the gateway as an "additional station" in the meteobridge Station page.

Get the gateway working first stand-alone before trying to add it to the meteobridge. Once you select the GW device from the drop-down, (GW1000, but I am going to assume that it will work for the GW1100, unless someone knows something contrary to this), Select TCP/IP abd enter the IP address for the GW1000. This is how mine is set up.

You will be able to add other Ecowitt modules like extra sensors and have them report via meteobridge as well. The WH57 was a later addition, I already had several temperature/humidity sensors working with it previously.

Gateway on Ecowitt: https://shop.ecowitt.com/products/gw1100

Thx Greg. I have the HP2560 console. It receives the lightning sensor- it just doesn’t go to the weatherbridge. Seems overkill to get the GW1100 for this reason only?

Tom

The HP2560 doesn't show up in the available stations list in Meteobridge.

The GW1100 is only $30. This appears to be the only way to get the lightning signal into Meteobridge.

You could also add in the other sensors and  have them display/report via Meteobridge.

Hi Greg,

Thanks again. True - not too much money but is it really incompatible? I transmit the station and all my sensors via the Weatherbridge - only the WH57 does not transfer...

Try the metro bridge forum.

I have the GW1000 and it works.

I don't see the option for the HP2560, what did you do to get the other sensors to work?

I did not use a specific model in the Primary Station setup but the option: Ecowitt Custom Upload. Then, in the Ecowitt console, under the customized weather network upload, I entered the IP of the Weatherbridge. See screenshot.

I see. Perhaps this method doesn't support the lightning sensor?
Maybe Ecowitt has an update or can provide support.
Sorry, I can't help you beyond my GW1x00 suggestion.

that should in principle work
the path is correct - the "0" stands for the primary station - if it were station 1, it would have to be ecowitt1.cgi ...

this method supports all registered sensors, including the lightning sensor.
it looks rather like a network issue than a Meteobridge issue as this has worked before - or a re-introduced bug ...

Thanks all. The sensors all appeared on AWN - seems to have needed some time. However, on no other network. They must not support extra sensors?

Thanks again, Tom

most of the other weather networks only accept the basic sensors: outdoor T/RG, rain, wind, solar, pressure and some derived values like dewpoint
