WN1900 availability
« on: October 09, 2021, 07:24:17 AM »
Hi!

Finally the WN1900 seems to be available (shortly).
At least it is now listed on the Ecowitt website.
However, there is currently no stock for any of the frequencies offered.

It is also listed as an additional standalone console.
As soon as the unit is on stock for 868MHz, I will order, make a few tests and report here.

Now the only thing missing from the announcements is the HP10 ...

Regards, Oliver

Hi!

I have been keeping an eye on the availability of the new WN19xxC consoles for months.
To date, these devices have not been available with any frequency.
They are still not available. But at least the prices in the webshop have been updated significantly:
The monochrome display WN1900C costs now $59.99 (was: $39.99) and the color version WN1910C $64.99 (was: $49.99).
Perhaps the components are scarce and therefore more expensive to procure. Or maybe Ecowitt just wants to explore the buyer's pain threshold.

Does anyone already use a WN1900 or WN1910?
It would be nice if a user could let send the station to EAR. Then I can check the general compatibility with FOSHKplugin..
Thanks!

Oliver

Notorious inconsistency of the/with the model names  at Ecowitt  (against their own naming rules )

normally (unless changed meanwhile) the WN19x0 station is a WN19x0 console and a WN67 outdoor array (no solar panel, no solar sensors, just a "crippled" WH65) N=No solar panel. But, possibly the WN67 reports itself as a WH65. A WN19x0 console can work with a WH65, only cannot display the solar sensor data. When it runs with a WH65, then it could be called WS19x0, but the sensor array wouldn't know which console receives its signals. Maybe the console cannot distinguish between a WN67 and a WH65/WS69 ... #-o

Hi!

But, possibly the WN67 reports itself as a WH65.
It is conceivable that a WH65 will actually be used in this installation.
In the example, however, solarradiation and uv are missing - therefore I assume that the wh65batt shows the status of the outside sensor array - regardless of whether it is WN67 or WH65 or WS69. So there's probably an WN67 in use.
The ws1900batt key may indicate the battery level of the batteries built into the console. Exciting question: Does the value also show 5V when the power is supplied via a USB power supply unit?
Also of interest (for me) is the new key runtime, which apparently shows the time in seconds (here just under a month) since the last reboot.
Once again, they did not do without totalrainin. But maybe this time this key corresponds to reality and doesn't just contain the same value as yearlyrainin. Probably not.

Thanks. Looks good so far.
Just one question:
Did you test this with the standard outdoor array WN67 coming with the WS1900 or with a normal/separate WH65?
I wonder because there's a uv and solarradiation value beside the wh65batt:
Quote
solarradiation       0.00
uv       0
[...]
wh65batt       0
If the device has no light sensors, it shouldn't output a value of 0 for it. It shouldn't output these keys at all.

Hi Oliver,

It was tested with the WH65 unit as we have this already setup in the office.

Let men now if that causes a problem and you need a re-test with the WN67 unit.

Hi!

Quote
It was tested with the WH65
Thanks for clarification.
Then this makes sense. In the data from the Italian user there were no uv and no solarradiation. So there was probably a WN67 in use.
So:
if wh65batt and (uv or solarradiation) then WH65 in use
if wh65batt and not (uv or solarradiation) then WN67 in use

I had already prepared an email to Ecowitt with the request to refrain from transmitting uv and solarradiation with the WN67.
But they already seem to be handling it that way.
Thanks!

Hi!

Today the WN1900C is available in the shop for the first time. I've been waiting for months for it to become available so I could buy a cheap console for the kids.
In the meantime, however, the device is so expensive that I'm already hesitating again.
Maybe you can help me decide by quickly buying all available devices?

Hi!

The WN1900 weather station with combi sensor was already available for purchase. What is new is that the console is now also offered individually - i.e. without the sensor that is useless for owners.

Right, but the discussion was about whether or not the wn67 array comes with the array version.  Right now I’m just seeing the normal solar array not the stripped down version.   Put another way, I thought it was being implied the 1900 setup with array came with the stripped down array.

Hi!

I see no reason for discussion. There is no mention of a solar panel, UV measurement or brightness measurement on the WN1900 and WN1910 pages:
Quote
1 * Outdoor Sensor with built-in: Thermo-hygrometer / Rain Gauge / Wind Speed Sensor/ Wind Direction Sensor.
I therefore assume that the crippled WN67 will be delivered.
On the pictures, the WN67 and WS69 may look identical, but instead of the solar panel, there is a plastic plate in the WN67.

But I'm pretty sure that the WH65/WS69 is supported (but the values for light are not displayed on the console).

I received the official version, neatly packaged, printed box.

The 5in1 and 7in1 look exactly the same.
The black transparent part does not has any electronics below it,
Manual is correct, it is the 5in1 without solar/uv.
The batteries are needed, without the 5in1 is not usable.

The WN1900 does not supply UV/solar in the custom upload.

It is a high price for a crippled station, albeit it is a small but very nice / clear console.
It even continues uploading when on battery-power.

Hi!

Excuse me, now I see the cause of the discussion. Ecowitt should urgently get the website in order. Otherwise there will be (rightly!) angry customers.
It should not happen to refer to any technical features that are not included in the scope of delivery:
Quote
Wireless Outdoor Sensor: wind vane, wind speed cups, thermo-hygrometer sensor, rain gauge, bubble level and solar collector 7-in-1 integrated sensor(requires batteries to install as backup power - batteries not included); 100M Long range wireless connectivity
Even if this is probably a simple copy/paste error from a station with WS69/WH65.

I had already informed them some time ago and they replied that they are going to correct this.
They also had a picture (with name) of a WS69 array along which is wrong as it's the WN67 array (no solar sensor, no solar panel).
They promised to change - but only the picture has changed - not the text yet.

I don't remember seeing the dimensions for the console anywhere before. Would you please measure it?
Thanks!

BTW:
I don't understand at all why Ecowitt is launching a cheap version of the WS69 without the Supercap&Solarpanel.
Constantly changing batteries - that costs a lot of money for batteries and harms the environment.
Surely no user wants that?
The price difference can't be that big - the WS69 is available at ecowitstore.com for $59.49 and the WN1900C at Ecowitt for $59.99 (was $20 less until a few weeks ago).

If the bundle could be offered for $99, it would indeed be a good start that would also guarantee follow-up investments (because users don't want to keep changing the batteries). But at the current price, I think the station is not for sale (goedkoop).
But you have already proven me wrong.

Wim,

It is a high price for a crippled station, albeit it is a small but very nice / clear console.
I don't remember seeing the dimensions for the console anywhere before. Would you please measure it?
Thanks!

The visible glass area is 8 cm wide and 9.5 cm height, total width 10.5  height 11 cm

Backlight has 4 levels.
Readability far better than the "blue" WH2320

I agree the console itself is now to heigh priced to use as an extra console on my desk to have the outside  temp/wind in  a glance.
But I like the white background and the sharp black letters.
For this price nobody will buy it instead of a GW1000.

The total package price is unattractive  because of the WS67  and one really needs the Wired Battery Pack to more easily replace the batteries and not have a lot of false measurements when bringing the 5in1 down from its pole.

My "complaint" is
  • their website text  uses words such as  " light  " and "backup battery"
  • their photo of the device is  identical to the solar version both on the website and on the box
They should have replaced the "black transparent" solar shield with a white one to let consumers understand this is a crippled 5in1 outside station.
