Allen Media has announced they're laying off local meteorologists at all 22 of their TV stations. Instead they're going to "hub" local reports from The Weather Channel in Atlanta, which they purchased March of 2024. This is going to leave a void in local knowledge of weather idiosyncrasies.
I'm putting the finishing touches on an article about how there are many knowledgeable, sometimes highly trained, local individuals who are going to benefit from Allen's decision. I've already contacted and got comment from a few, but it would be nice to have a few more. I'm hoping to demonstrate the internet is a great source for the local wisdom which TV stations are abandoning. If you have such a Facebook or Instagram page, or your own website, or know of someone, and would like to be in the article, PM me your information and I'll consider it.
Thanks!
