Thanks
« on: August 12, 2011, 12:34:53 PM »
Thank you to all that voted for my site! I truly appreciate the votes!  =D>

There were other very nice sites in the list and because of that, I'm honored to be picked as the featured station.

I'd like to thank the following people in no particular order:

Ken True - Thanks for all you do with this forum and all of your scripts and templates. Your AJAX script is what got me started.

Danny Crum - What can I say, Danny has worked with me quite a bit and if it wasn't for him my site would be have what it is today. I would not have won if it hadn't been for him. One of the nicest guys you'll ever deal with.

Michiana Weather - Thanks to Curly for his great Atom Alerts script for weather warnings.

Relay Weather - Thanks to Michael for his Air Quality script and help with a mobile version of the Atom Alert.

Southern Maryland Weather - Thanks to Jim for his Upper Air Soundings script as well as his VWS Yearly Summary Scripts, very slick stuff. (need to get my upper air working again Jim! :-))

And last but not least, Meteorologist Allan Hoffman at RaleighWX - Thanks to Allan for so graciously allowing me to use his forecast model maps and graphs on my site. You can also read Allan's weather column on the Raleigh Daily Examiner( http://www.examiner.com/x-4053-Raleigh-Weather-Examiner)

All of you here - All of your advice and help and made my job much easier and for that I'm extremely grateful. Thank you all for everything.

It looked like a Windows image and the source of his page has some clues in it. Nice looking though!

I've got a new design in the works and I'm going to try to take a different approach this time.

I think the time has come for new standards so it will use CSS3 and HTML5, will include a lot of jQuery scripts and have a lot of slick features. AND... it will use a CMS package.

That is basically a 914-6 fiberglass removable shell built around the original monocoque tub. Pretty lightweight but the exciting paart is that it uses a small block Chevy for propulsion... 400hp in a 1850 lb car = FUN! But it actually isn't as much fun as the F500 I drove for the last 6 years. I hated to see that go.

I'm trying to figure out a new design for myself too. Maybe something different than the templated site.
We'll see how far I get.  :-P

I was never too keen on the templates because I knew I wanted something that was different. It sure would have made it a lot easier on me as I slowly figured it out as I did it. The next one I'll have a plan and do it a lot different. I want to standardize on some default page templates and not reinvent the wheel so much each time I add a page. I'm kind of like that now.

The problem you have is the way some of the scripts are written. You have to go back and add specific CSS code to account for all the variations in the way the html is coded in scripts, it just makes it a little more difficult.
