You can pretty much run any webcam in Canada.  I run a bunch of DLink cams at -30C (no housing) and no issues whatsoever.  The latest Dlinks are HD and quite decent.  Look around and you can get good deals.

This thing's pretty cool:

I have a second one now.  Had to do a bit of extra weatherproofing to mount them on poles up high like I wanted.  One thing is the POE adapter so you only have to run a network cable and not a separate power line.

Trendnet stuff is decent.  Second or third tier in general, but still OK.  Check to see how yo access the images.

What should I be looking for in the description. What models in particular are best suited? Not sure what specs I should be looking for.

I have the Hikvision 2032 model and it has been working great for years. If you click the link below it shows the specs about my cam.

I just set up the camera from Ambient Weather. Seems to work ok with weatherunderground. Take a look at KCABRENT27. The wireless was challenging to set up...I added the image from the camera, im very pleased with the camera from Ambient so far it’s been working great for uploading to weatherunderground

Ryan,
What direction do you have your camera pointed?  Any issues with the sun catching the lens?
Still recommend this model?

I am looking for something to capture the monsoon activity we have out here in Arizona... and something that can stand up to the heat.

I am not Ryan, but I have three of the same model cams because of him .  This is my valley view camera facing slightly East of South.  It is mounted under my roof overhang, so gets very little weather on it.  It has been in continuous operation since June of 2015 with no problems.  During this time the temperature extremes were -20°F to 87°F.

HA!  Thanks Mark!

Well, you have the lower temp range covered - so that is a good test.
Here, We see several months of over 105 degrees during the day, with bright blue sky.. which makes mounting any sort of electronics tough - but it looks like what you have handles the cold just fine.

Thanks!

Mark (zakdog)
That is one amazing view.
I hope you appreciate how lucky you are to see that.  I have a friend who's lived in Jackson, WY for 30+ years and he says every time he looks at the Tetons he realizes how lucky he is to be there and the mountains still take his breath away more than he thought they would at this point in his life.

We were going to northern Yellowstone from Red Lodge over the Beartooth highway, but it was snowed shut during the night.  We had to take an alternate route, if I recall something like Chief James scenic highway, and continue to be amazed at the absolutely stunning views our country has to offer.

I told my wife when I was old and feeble we needed to rent a place where she could push me in the wheelchair to the porch and let me watch sun rises and sun sets until my last one.  Enjoy your good fortune.

I have two of the Hikvision cameras, and for at least a couple, maybe three, years they just chunk away.  I've had -32 F (never -40 yet) and as high as 100 + (maybe 103) and no problems.

I do use them just to view the area, not as web cameras (yet).  but they are on all the time.  I'm surrounded by 60' trees and no real view of the horizon. I have an 80' ham tower that I was scheming with another ham about putting some sort of platform up above tree tops and just haven't gotten there, yet.

Let us know how you make out and a link to your view.

Do something that will let you get the cam up and down without climbing again.  I had my whole TV antenna and camera on a hoist/winch system to let it down in the yard with a hinged base.  I had considered a way to leave the tower up and use a hoist to pull the camera straight up and into a locking yoke of some kind, but other problems got in the way and I never followed through.

Concerning Hikvisions and temperatures... I've had 3 (all model 2032) running in the hot desert sun, on roofs even, as high as 120° with no operating issues at all. The only thing I'm starting to see is the image quality on one is starting to have a warmer yellow tint.

Today high of 115° expected:  [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Based on your posts I went to the Ambient Weather site but they are out of stock on the camera. I put my name on the waiting list.
