Site not having my data
« on: May 07, 2025, 10:25:53 AM »
I have been sending data in for 20 years, and over the weekend it says no data receives,  the Monday and Tuesday we have data showing and now, no data.   Are they having problems and not aware of them???   I no longer have a web site so the reference is on very old data.  it was too expensive for me to keep it up

Mine has many gaps going back 10 days history.

Currently shows no data but MB reports good upload.

Who knows what is up.

They must have had some downtime.  I'm seeing a hole in the last 24 hours.  Not only for mine, but my neighbor too.

Yup - missing multiple segments over last 10 days. Seems like it's been up for the last 24 hours

Bottom line is findu.com is effectively broken. It has been that way for years. There are so many deadlinks and out of date materials on that website, it is embarrassing.
Davis VP2 with SHT31 (3 complete VP2 systems—2 with a daytime fan and 1 that has a 24 hour fan); CWOP--CW5020, FW3075 and FW4350; WU--KILWHEAT17, KILWHEAT36 and KILWHEAT39; WeatherCloud.net; CoCoRaHS--IL-DP-132; and Weatherlink 2.0

For sure! I mean it says the last edit that was done on the page was in 2016 i believe. Somebody should take over it and give it a make over at the very least.

I sent an email today regarding the out dated material on findu.com to the developer/owner (Steve Dimse) of this website and his response follows.

It’s deprecated, when it’s hardware dies it goes away.

Too bad, a lot of useful information here. Suggestions for an alternative website with comparable material?

Hmm i am not sure i like that response! Many of us including me have been sending valuable data for years to CWOP and the answer is that it goes away? How about offering another person or company to take over it?? Wow that be such a tremendous waste I was hoping for another answer geez.

Hope something can be done to keep CWOP going!

I believe findu.com is a website that populates data received by CWOP, so when findu.com goes away, technically the data Is still being received by CWOP. That said, this is all very murky. NOAA used to help keep findu.com going and provided technical support. That ended years ago, now findu.com is arguably a one-man show. The problem is a lack of revenue—I for one would be willing to pay a modest annual fee, say $25, to keep findu.com going and bringing it up to date and refreshing the content as necessary. In particular, I miss the radar that used to be there.

What would it take for web space? Could I do something like donate some space on my web host? I plan to keep it going for the foreseeable future.

I would be inept at running it but would be fine with having someone skilled do the technical.

There seems to be an active donation link on findU.
NOTE: I just used the donation link to send $20.00 and it did process even though it indicated an issue.

Like most links on findu.com, it doesn’t work. That said, voluntary donations isn’t the answer—it should be required to pay a modest fee to view the content on this website.
