modification of VWS images like broadcast.jpg
« on: October 14, 2024, 12:16:50 PM »
I'm still using VWS Internet Edition v15.00 p03 because I like the graphics it gives for my web site at https://weather.nbjansen.com/ but my third rain gauge (like those before it) stopped communicating so I bought a Sainlogic station (https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMIPORTA107) and would like to be able to interface its precip data with the nice jpg images VWS creates.  Is there any way to get the source code that was used to compile vws.exe since it's no longer supported, or perhaps at least modify the template image used to create broadcast.jpg?  Or perhaps find out where the inputs to vws.exe come from (I assume tag ^vxv121^ is an output of vws.exe and input for the html files, but what's the input for ^vxv121^?) and maybe replace the precip values with those from my new Sainlogic station?  I'm not a fan of the htx templates I see in my vws/template folder.  Is there someplace on my hard drive or perhaps in RAM where these tag values are stored and used by vws.exe to output its images? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I realize that this reply does not address your question, but my suggestion is to return the Sainlogic product while you still can, and buy something that has at least a hope of decent support.

For example, there is a large Ecowitt community here on WxForum, and in the long run I am confident that Ecowitt will serve you better than Sainlogic.
