I'm the same way, I have the main unit and a backup FARS shield both with the SHT-31 Davis and just swapped both out with the shorter 24" cable length and both shields match at night to the tenth. During daytime, they can wonder apart a couple tenths because they don't face the same direction, so depends on sun angle.

Any suggestions ! WU shows I'm running easyweatherpro v5.1.6

Hello

Just backing up a little, what stage are you at?

Have you actually installed CMX yet?

https://cumuluswiki.org/a/MX_on_Windows_OS

The first time you run it as Paul says above it will report an IP address 192.168.1.xy:8998 which you can insert into a browser to talk to CMX. The first time you do that it will initiate a wizard to guide you through the process and create a file called cumulus.ini to store all your settings.

Note that the installation files do not include a cumulus.ini file, you have to run the program once to create it

You can run the settings wizard from the main page every time you need to change anything, if all goes wrong simply delete the cumulus.ini file and start again

The wiki link is pretty well written, read through it first

If you are installing on Linux

https://cumuluswiki.org/a/MX_on_Linux

Once installed the settings process is the same

Hope this helps

A more relevant question is what level of staffing and organization structure is necessary to produce the current forecast granularity (1 Sq. KM)?

Remember, the current NWSFO organization structure was mostly based on the range of the WSR-88D radars, not on how efficiently the tasks might actually be distributed amongst the staff of adjacent offices.

One area is similar to the next, which is similar to the next, which is similar to the next .........

What granularity is acceptable?

Correct.  But I remember the hue and cry when the current NWSFO organization structure was implemented 30 years ago.  Every Congressman didn't want their personal Weather Bureau office closed, and moving the NYC one from the RCA building out to Yaphank seemed absurd.  But it worked out.

It's about time to look again at what work needs to be done in each office and whether it could be made more efficient.  For example, each office preparing a local forecast that is essentially similar as the one the next office over also  makes might be room for consolidation of local forecasts between two.  Similarly the Warning meteorology function might be shared as front moves through from one office warning area to the next.

So saying current staffing levels are sacrosanct without looking for how to streamline the work to eliminate redundancy is foolish.  "Authors of the Storm" is a good book explaining the culture within the NWS.

We will all just have to sit back to see how this all falls out...

It’s not for a lack of effort. I’ve even swapped sensors in the past to ensure it’s not sensor specific. Certainly overly obsessive.

Sounds like you got a winner in the homemade unit.  Just subtle things can make a few tenths difference, even the sensors themselves with a (+/-) .2 C or .36f specs.

In 2020 I moved from Northern California to Nikiski, Alaska and set up my station that I brought with me. To say the least it has been an interesting adventure.

So far no noticeable difference between fans. The Davis runs consistently 0.2° to 0.5° higher with the 24CFM fan. Max temps so far Davis: 74.5° Homemade: 74.1°
