Weather Web Cam Suggestions Please.
« on: October 30, 2023, 03:18:47 PM »
I have an older Ambient weather station WS-1201. It is not compatible with the Ambient weather cam. I don't want to upgrade to a new Ambient station because their cam doesn't live stream and a paid subscription is required to activate all features. So, maybe down the road I"ll switch to a different company's equipment that has a well recommended weather web cam or upgrade my Ambient station to one that supports their cam but for now I'm looking for a stand alone weather web cam with live streaming, video memory capabilities and web access. Thanks for your help.

I bought 4 Reolink cameras. Reason being they came with a 2 year warranty. Anything that is outside running 24/7 has to be built well.
So far so good. No issues at all. I would buy another one. The few times I had to to use CS they were prompt in getting back to me and minor issues were solved.
I have 1 with an Ethernet connection. 2 solar powered wifi cams, and 1 wifi that uses an electrical outlet.

I have a ReoLink Duo 2.  I only installed it end of May of this year.  But no issues.

I'm using IPTimelapse.  I have a web server at home that IPTL updates my pictures to every 3 seconds, instead of an FTP constant upload to my main site.  Keeps my bandwidth down.

But if you want full on video, IPTL will do a live stream to YouTube as well.  I'm just manually taking my nightly videos and uploading them.

I also use a Reolink RLC-510A camera and IPTimelapse software.

Here's a forum post describing how I set up my webcam: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=43546.msg444552

Here's links to my still image (update every 2 seconds), Live, Timelapse, and Archive (for Oct 2023):

Reolinks (RLC-410-5MP) streaming w/Netcam Studio w/SSL installed .., Streams and Stills, with live audio configured from cam mics on stream pages also... Tower Cam (SW -'cam1') has condensation in lens, and I'm too feeble  anymore to lower tower and replace... sigh...  Been messing with cams since the old 'Logitech' USB days with a -4diopter taped over the lens... Hikvisions were good, but seemed to be vulnerable to water, and more sensitive to EMP from lightning nearby.  Reolinks have been excellent, other than the one with moisture (on the tower), I think happened when my neighbor tried to help me clean it using a 'pressure' washer.... nice thought though.. cleaned the lens well, but ....  (also took the Davis Vue a couple of days to return to normal Humidity sensing... heh...  ONLY issues I've had have been water/corrosin in connectors over the years, but solved that many moons ago, for the most part... .
