new WIFI firmware for HP25xxC, HP35xxC etc.: EasyWeatherV1.6.5
« on: January 18, 2023, 02:05:12 AM »
Hi!

There's a new firmware version v1.6.5 available for alle the EasyWeather stations like HP25xxC, HP35xxC aso.
Use the current WSView Plus app to update.

Changelog for EasyWeatherV1.6.5
Wunderground protocol adds support for multi-channel data upload.

Finally, the users of the consoles can also transmit the extended sensors via WU protocol - for example to Awekas.
Wonderful!

add:
Just installed, no changes to the Ecowitt protocol - so still missing keys runtime and interval; WU tested and as expected.

add2:
For the HP256xC and newer HP255xC consoles (EasyWeatherPro devices) there's the new firmware EasyWeatherPro v5.1.1 available.

Thank You

Hi!

The v1.6.5 is still available (and not withdrawn).
You may not only have to start the WSView Plus app but also select the corresponding console so that the update is searched for.
And of course, the console and the device on which the WSView Plus app is running must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Theoretically, pure IP accessibility should be sufficient - however, I repeatedly had difficulties performing a firmware update via a VPN connection.

Hi!

I finally did a test today with the transmission via custom server in the WU protocol. Indeed, the data of WH31, WN34 and WN35 are now additionally transmitted in the WU protocol:
Code: [Select]
ID=id
PASSWORD=key
indoortempf=66.9
tempf=33.3
dewptf=32.0
windchillf=33.3
indoorhumidity=36

dailyrainin=0.000
weeklyrainin=0.000
monthlyrainin=2.681
yearlyrainin=2.681
solarradiation=0.00
UV=0
AqPM2.5=26.0
temp2f=34.5
humidity2=87
temp3f=67.1
humidity3=37
temp4f=66.9
humidity4=36
temp5f=33.4
humidity5=94
temp6f=34.0
humidity6=93
temp7f=33.4
humidity7=95
temp9f=66.0
soilmoisture=83
soilmoisture2=42
soilmoisture3=47
soilmoisture4=46
soilmoisture5=45
soilmoisture6=45
soilmoisture7=45
soilmoisture8=48
soiltempf=38.8
soiltemp2f=66.6
soiltemp3f=67.1
soiltemp4f=67.6
leafwetness=18
dateutc=2023-01-23%2018:10:10
softwaretype=EasyWeatherV1.6.5
action=updateraw
realtime=1
rtfreq=5
Thus, WU-compliant servers (e.g. Awekas) should now also be able to process these additional sensors (at least 4 each - more are not defined in the WU standard).

I find it really amazing how long our consoles receive free (!) improvements in the form of firmware updates and that our wishes are implemented by Ecowitt.
High praise!

So the only console that does not yet have support for the advanced sensors in the WU protocol is the GW1000.
I have asked Ecowitt whether this will follow or whether the old GW1000 will no longer be equipped with this feature.
An answer is still pending (Chinese New Year).

Also, should be noted, although most understand this, this does not mean the WU website itself will take up the data, this is for the custom server or other use.
I just mention this as some may think as we are discussing WU protocol, that this will make a these sensors show up on WU website , totally different.

And one more thing should be said about this:

If possible, the Ecowitt format should always be preferred for sending via custom server.
It is true that these sensor values are now also sent to the destination via custom server in WU format.
For some other Ecowitt sensors, however, there is no equivalent in the WU format - such as WH45 (air quality sensor), WH57 (lightning sensor) or WH55 (leakage sensor) and all the other sensors that will hopefully be added in the future.
And also the battery values as well as various status messages (runtime, interval, WS90 calibration data) are transmitted exclusively in Ecowitt format.
And this is not because Ecowitt prefers its own format but because the WU format is simply inflexible, outdated and not really maintained.

Of course, as a simple user you can't always influence this. But as a software developer or weather service provider, you should think about it.
And even a simple user can at least ask the weather service provider if there is not the possibility to upload in Ecowitt format.

Hi!

There's a new firmware version v1.6.5 available for alle the EasyWeather stations like HP25xxC...

Is that what the little green ⬆️ up arrow means on my WSView Plus devices screen?

Also, I have a HP2551(C) 433MHz model (Australia). Not sure when but a few months ago the thumbnail for console changed to the incorrect image (WS2902 maybe - see attached image). Any idea why and he I could get it to change back to the correct thumnail?

Hi!

Regarding the green arrow: yes, this indicates a possible WIFI firmware update.
Unfortunately, I don't have any information about the wrong icon. If it is still wrong after the update, ask Ecowitt how you can fix it.

not sure if you have solved the thumbnail issue meanwhile
if not, then
a) the picture/thumbnail seems to be from the WN1821 - but doesn't matter - one of my icons also changed in WS View Plus at some point in time - I got it reset
b) I assume you talk about the Favorites view in WS View Plus
then remove the Favorite from the Favorites list, go back to the device list, make your console a Favorite again and choose the proper icon
this should work
WS2350 1.6.7, GW1000(3) 1.7.7,WH2650 WiFi (2) 1.7.7 (test/backup), GW1100 2.3.1, GW2000(3) 3.1.1, HP2551 1.9.5,5.1.5;HP3500 1.7.2,WS3800 1.2.8, WN1910 1.2.3,WN1980 1.2.3;

Hi Gyvate.

No, I hadn't solved it (hadn't even tried to be honest :oops:).

Tried your suggestion and it worked and now the correct thumbnail is showing again  [tup]
