Weatherlink and weather-display
« on: November 30, 2017, 02:21:53 AM »
Hi,

Is it possible to have both programs running and logging at the same time?

I have about three years of data in wd, but would like to try out the wl2.0 as well as it is finally looking useful.

yes
tick the option in the com port setup, weather link, to release the port every minute
(and then make sure that the console time matches the pc time)

I have never heard of this. Is this on WL6.0.3?
I don't see that option under com port set up.

Isn't this just for WeatherlinkIP? If someone wants to run the Weatherlink program (eg with a USB logger) as the upload agent to WLC2 (which is how I read the original post BICBW) then I'd have guessed it wants continuous access to the stream of LOOP packets, much as WD presumably does?

can a program other than weatherlink upload data to the new weatherlink.com 2.0 platform?

They seem keen to keep it proprietary and haven't ever, to my knowledge, released the upload protocol or authentication credentials required.

I guess one benefit is that all the data on the WLC map (27,000+ stations now) must be coming from reasonable quality stations and so is going to be more credible overall than eg WU, but I agree it's a shame that the upload options aren't more flexible. I suspect that quite a few users will be content with WLC2 - especially once the promised extra features are in place probably sometime later next year - but there's currently no way for someone with a USB logger to connect just to eg a Raspberry Pi to manage the uploads, but you need to be running a full Windows PC 24/7 to do this.
