I've recently joined a world-wide effort to capture spam harvesters/generators, and your mobile IP address may have been used (by someone else) in a spam-related event.  I don't see your specific IP in the logs so I don't know why you are getting the challenge page.  Is it only from your mobile?  Do you see it at home?  Are you logged in the forum on your mobile?

Are you writing the above messages from your home?
Please try again to log in your mobile and try posting a message to this thread.  I'll need that in order to research what's going on...  Alternatively, if you can use your phone software to determine your IP address and PM me with that address, that will work too.

Did the same thing on my Droid today. I was going to send a message but couldn't remember my password to login!  :-)

I've received it the last few logons but I'm in a Houston Hotel so I wrote it off to my different service.

The questions are too tough.  Good thing I  have Windows calculator on this laptop!

With mobile phones running off the phone net, you run the risk that someone at sometime did a spam-like thing and got trapped by the monitoring software.  Lauren, your TMobile IP address just happened to be responsible for some spam activity of 18 email(s) sent from this IP within the last 5 weeks.

It's going to be the luck of the draw with mobile users and public hotspot users .. those are favorite camps for spammers

Your home systems should be ok to access the forum, but I can't guarantee that a specific mobile IP or public hotspot IP will be so lucky.

Best regards,
Ken

It appears T-Mobile proxies the web traffic... The IP address reported with my post does not match the IP assigned to my Mobile device.

That depends.  What are you using for your mobile browser?  If it's Opera Mini, they have their own proxy-processing server.

The built in browser on my Nexus One. The IP Ken and I are referring to is a tmodns.net address.

I use Opera mini and cannot get to the login in screen (or any other screen apart from the amusingly named 'robot' screen).

all the posts in this thread are from my PC.

I try to use the net with my phone from home.

The IP address you used for your post is not listed in the logs as being 'suspect'
Please PM me the IP address used by your phone browser (you can use http://www.wxforum.net/info.php to see that address) and I'll look it up in the logs.

FWIW, I have a Verizon cellular router on a weather site, and they change the IP address daily or more often. And, the address can be from one of 2 or 3 Class A blocks.

FWIW - as expected, no problem with access being back home. The HOU hotel runs an open-access wifi service.

thanks for the PM Saratoga.

so my phone IP has been used to spam so YOu won't let me access the forum without entering digits everytime?

I understand the protection but it's a real pain and will put me off checking in on my phone.

As i say, i do understand.

I'm sorry it's a pain when using an IP address that has been tagged by honeypotproject as doing malicious stuff within the last 3 months .. for those addresses, you will have to be challenged to prove you are 'human' to proceed with access.

Regrettably, many miscreants use public IP network addresses at hotspots and mobile IP, so they dirty the laundry for regular folks who happen to have the misfortune to be assigned one of those dirty addresses, but mean no harm.

Since installation on October 08, 2010, 12:14:03 PM, there have been 1578 spam attempts stopped by the httpBL mod.
Also, our participation in Stop Forum Spam has denied access to 466 Spammers registrations.

It's the price we pay to try and keep the forum spam-free :)

Best regards,
Ken
