Title: Making the change to HTTPS://
Post by: W Thomas on January 10, 2019, 03:26:42 PM
I have been working on switching everything to where it works properly as a secure site but not sure I understand all I know about the requirements needed :?

I have changed all the addresses on my index page to https but I have some images and CSS that will still show as mixed content and in turn the green lock will not show on the browser.

I'm not sure how to go about making the images and CSS serve as encrypted. I'm open to any suggestions and tutorials!

Thanks,
A slightly confused WT #-o

Wayne,

There's a couple of easy ways to find the "culprits". First, just do a 'Show Source' when viewing your page, then search for all occurrences of "http://www.smyth". This will show you the lines on your page you need to change. Another way to find the "culprits" is to use the Developer Tools in your browser. For example, in Firefox, go to your page, then on the Firefox Menu, select Tools -> Web Developer -> Web Console. Then refresh your page. You'll see messages for each of links where mixed content is found.

Hey WT,

I'm on a roll with putting my 2 cents in today, and believe, me Steve is the one you should listen too for help.

I'm a dummy but eventually made it through using this site: https://www.whynopadlock.com/

Good luck, if I can do it most people should be able too.

Got everything, well almost everything going good!
HTTPS changeover went smoothly then I had a HDD fail on my main WX server and lost most of my Weather Display settings. That's all back with the exception of my greeting ,it hasn't updated since the change out. Can't seem to find what tag in the clientraw stream feeds that!  Apparently it's missing LOL!

It's disgusting how wunderground still has mixed content, so many of its stickers are not from a https source.   Also it needs to get rid of flash.

Yes, that is my plan. I have several quirky scripts that need updating and some other general housecleaning and such.
Got so many things left to sort out from the move over the summer!  My one-man operation has just about run this one man off the map :-P
