New WU dashboard
« on: October 31, 2013, 06:41:17 PM »
Yuk  I really like the old/current one better.    My it is showing -999 for wind gust and rain rate for my acurite when it does not even report those items.

Things have changed in the last couple of hours. It's looking a lot better now.

Prepared to keep an open mind until it's finished but it's looking okay at the moment.

I don't know why they can't leave well enough along.  I still use the classic wu.

I'll decide when it's finished. Webcam on mine still isn't being detected (new/Beta version but is on the current/old version).

I don't see the input data or anyway to edit out bad data.

The map if it is working is terrible.

I can't tell what that chart is supposed to show.

And where are they getting these numbers from?

That's an animated gif file, it's not supposed to reflect your conditions.

There is a reason it's called 'beta', if you notice that little beta banner in the animated gif.

May still need work but I like it. I'm excited that now Wunderground displays leaf wetness soil moisture and soil temperature. The dashboard looks nice.

I don't like the antique wind direction indication where the arrow is pointing downwind.
I immediately think that it is 180 degrees off.

I would agree.  If the top is north, the west should be pointing left.

Mine does not have the webcam.  Maybe because it is in beta.   Also, maybe another reason why WU has been wonky with webcams the last two months.

I don't hate it.  Ok to look at.
There should be more of an obvious way to point  the user to our websites.

I don't mind "improvements" but only as long as I can keep using the current page format, which I happen to like.

I see the beta station status message allows a 300 character field, versus only 120.

Gee, I dunno, it may be o.k. once they get all of the web cameras back, and all the widgets listed, and all the neighborhood stations on the maps, and... see my point? My guess is this JUST came online a few days ago if that. I'd personally like to see their widgets a lot more "eye candy" with the same accurate information. I'll surely keep watching to see the evolution of progress.

Hey Ryan in Kansas, get that station fixed! ;)

Don't know about news but I'm glad they're displaying this. I'm a gardener and find this info extremely helpful. Sometimes it's nice to view this data even when I'm not at home. One of the reasons why I've had that overlayed in the camera images. Guess it's time to remove that stuff from the overlay. :-)

Hmmm, just noticed that on the new dashboard my station has an icon that indicates the station has been "temporarily flagged" for data quality issues. #-o   Anyone ever had that before and do you know what they are using for the QC process?  I strive for accurate data and correct placement/exposure of sensors to meet that end so this is a bit disconcerting.

Did you acknowledge the error?  It could have been from sometime in the past.  Doesn't mean it is happening now.

Mine was flagged the other day for sending a temperature of 324F.  It's not listed on my software, so I guess it was on their end.

That was it. Must have been a really old error as haven't had an issue in some time now. After acknowledging, the flag is gone. Thanks for the tip.

I like the forecast graph and the radar thumbnail.

The backwards wind-rose is something the Weather Channel did for a short time on the broadcast weather maps, back when I watched the Weather Channel, so that doesn't suprise me, but they do need to fix it.

Be sure to "leave feedback", it will only take a few times hitting the submit button before you get something which doesn't mention an error.  ](*,)

No because there is nothing to acknowledge. On the other page it is fine, just happening on the new page.

The wind direction thing really is annoying. Emailed Wunderground after several posts on the feedback forum. William replies saying "S means south, N means North" and "the arrow points into the wind" Basically implying I'm stupid. After several emails with drawings depicting what the whole idea is he still doesn't understand.

LOL considering how they have managed to screw up WU after TWC took over, is it any surprise they are clueless!!!??? If there was another reliable Rapid Fire program to upload my data with I'd drop WU like a bad disease! Neither of my web cameras have been available on there for the past several days, AGAIN!!!
