Can't upload data from ProTech WSMIHP2550
« on: September 15, 2021, 01:59:56 AM »
I bought a ProTech WSMIHP2550 and had no problem to set it up and get it connected to my wifi.
But when trying to upload data i am stuck At this forum I found out it was similar til Ambient FS2000 (nothing is said in the manual that came with the device), but when I create an account and try to register the device both weathercloud.net and wunderground.com says that the device is offline.

How can I get it online? Is it anything in the router that needs to be changed?

Your ProTech WSMIHP2550 manual .
You device is made by FOSK in China and sold under different "labels" one of them Ambient.
All brands but one use the same firmware. But not Ambient which uses different firmware.
Be aware and always use correct firmware when upgrading.
You should download the wsview app from your appstore and use the wsview app on your tablet or phone.
That is easier then using the small buttons on the console.
Also the wsview app tells you to upgrade to new firmware when it is available.
All information about your "FOSHK/Ecowitt" weather-station"  https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0
Including detailed description of console  https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.msg420959#msg420959
And how to update firmware https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.msg426256#msg426256

You could use the wsview app to check/set the upload to WeatherUnderground.
There should be no problem with uploading to WeatherUnderground and others, but it can take a few hours/days before the data is shown at WU.

Often there is confusion what the Station ID looks like , it is the short WU station name, all capitals, similar to ILEUVEN07
The Station KEY is the password used and not the very long WeatherUnderground API-key
To check:
1. Login at https://www.wunderground.com/
2. Top right => click Login  and enter your Email+ the password you set when joining WU
3. Click top right on MyProfile and select "My devices" from the drop down
4. The ID and key to use are in the 5th and 6th column

Succes,
Wim

As Wim (@wvdkuil) already mentioned: especially with Wunderground some patience may be needed. Time between your registration, your console posting and WU receiving and processing.
Also your browser can still have old data in its cache and shows offline even though it's already online meanwhile ...

First you have to create your station at wunderground.com - here, for your HP2551 console (=ProTech WSMIHP2550), you have to choose "Device hardware"  "other".
It's best to use the WSView app (android) and go on your smartphone to your Wunderground account, mark and copy your key data into your clipboard and then paste them in the WSView app.

There are many potential little pitfalls: "O" instead of "0" and vice versa, "I" (capital "i") and "l" (lower case "L") or a blank, space too much are often the reason for failure.
Depending on the fonts used they may look identical. Copy and paste avoids these issues.
The same applies to Weathercloud.net.

Third thing (which only works with the WSView app) is to update the console to latest WiFi firmware (1.5.9 resp. 1.6.0) - WSView will offer the update if needed and available.

Good luck. No reason why your console shouldn't post to the weather networks (unless it's really defective).

Thank you!
I managed to get it up at ecowit.net using WSView plus (iPhone) and I updated the firmware through it.
And it looks like I have managed to register at wunderground.com but it says "offline"
But I will give it som time and see...
weathercloud.net I can't get through...

in the WSView app (iOS or Android, doesn't matter) go to the "device list", tap on your device, first page will be ecowitt.net which already works for you
now  tap "next",
headline will be "Wunderground" - enter the station ID you chose e.g. ISTOCK33 (that's a fantasy name, but the name mustn't be longer than 8 characters [letter/number combination]), not the station name !!! - but the ID you find under https://www.wunderground.com/member/devices (after logging in) - column 4. The Station ID must be capital (=upper case) letters resp. numbers !!! (i.e. ISTOCK33 and not istock33 nor IStock33)
The password is the 8 character key you find in column 5 (e.g. "MyWUdev3" - also fantasy name). It is case sensitive !! (it's NOT the API key and it's NEITHER your account password !!).

Make sure you have selected station type "PWS" !!
Best is, as said before, copy and paste both Station ID and Station key (and make sure there is no trailing blank/space !!)

Don't forget to press "Save" and wait for the message "Success" to appear.

Everything I have put in "" is to be entered without the ""
If any of the before mentioned is missing, it won't work !!
