What causes heat lightning?

Someone told me its lightning from a storm that is far away, is that correct?

Not really... I probably need a week or more to really tell, this being a
holiday weekend and all.

Yeah, I'm getting few hits today (not that my hits even come close to your numbers!). Plus it's a beautiful, blue-sky September day. Perfect for watching college football and for golfing.

Yup. That may be the first day ever that the lightning page surpassed the main SLOwx page in hits and unique visitors.

Ah, that's a free counter from Statcounter.com. I just grabbed the bar graph images and saved them. I use the free counter and create a new one for each page. I have about 2 dozen.

If you are using PHP, you might take a look at http://ekstreme.com/phpcounter/.
