weather alert radio SAME settings question
« on: June 09, 2010, 11:03:47 PM »
Mod, if incorrect forum, please move.

I am not a ham.  I would of like of been a ham but that is another story.

Should you set it just for your county?

Should you set it for your county plus the surrounding counties that are covered by the same frequency?

Thank you for this information.

I have mine only set for my county.  Two reasons, one being I am located in near the center of the county, and two when the radio goes off I know it is time right then to pay attention to it.

It is tempting to put in all the surrounding counties to hear what is also going on around me.  But decided instead during times of curiosity just to monitor the HAM to NOAA weather net frequency and the internet along with NOAA weather channel directly.

I guess it depends on your area.  I'm in a small county with several small counties surrounding us in two states.  Mine is set for about 6 counties due to the way storms travel through here.  It may only be a matter of 15-30 minutes for a storm to move across 2-3 counties.

Mine is for my county and the one immediately West of me (for early warning)!
